My mate has got the same chopper as my Huey 1.8 Futura but he has a Laser 150 fourstroke in his, according to him the main things to make it all work are as follows.

1, Clutch weight

2, Reverse the fan

3, Adaptor backplate for flywheel outer ring

4, exhaust stub x flexi stainless

5, crankcase mount finning for more cooling

He flys it out in Portugal and has no cooling problems and it sounds fantastic.

Would it be possible for you to get a video of the helicopter in flight? I would really like to see and hear the 4 stroke helicopter in action, thanks.

4 strokes are for planks and scale, if you want big HP and less weight then there is nothing more qualified than the 2stroke glo.

Airboss,

I think you are missing the point, its not always about weight and power.

That's the difference between a flier and a modeler. Some people actually like to build and tinker.

those 4 strokes are powerful but you gain a few ounces and more moving parts. I would prefer to use a good old fashioned 2 smoke glo any day. even my new plank got outfitted with a 1.40 OS 2 stroke just so I could keep the weight down and performance up. after all these are aircraft and lighter is better

I am glad someone is still working with the fourstroke. I did a ys 110 in a Bergen last year with good success. I decided to go with a gas for a while. But the power was good with plenty of pull. I only ran about three gallons threw it but the motor was just getting better. good luck with this new heli. I would love to see it fly.

the EPA and AQMD killed the 2 stroke not because it has less power. but do you think a 2 stroke 450 has more or less power than a 4 stroke 450 ? and do you think it weighs more or less than the 4 ? remember all those parts need maintenance and weigh more. the power benefit of a 4 stroke is the torque .the most powerful diesel engines are 2 strokes also.

I tried an OS 52 in a Rappy .30. Basically a bolt in. You have to shorten the crank a few mm. Used the 50 gearing. Was a good sedate flyer. NOT 3D. Good traing, scale, or just fun flying. Would fly 45min+ on tank of fuel.
