Heliboy
here's a link to a test flight of my cricket and the heliboy. I wasn't planning to film this that day but a guy with a camera there wanted to film it. so it isn't very exciting just alot of hovering.

Great thread
Well I have not been around here in quite a few years. I ran into this thread doing some research while contemplating bring back my old Magic.

Let see, I have
2 Junior 50's one early and one Junior 50-2
One Champion
and 2 Magics.

Unfortunately I had to drop a rock through the Champions rotor while she was running so now I'm looking for parts for her.

I made the mistake of using a Lipo as a receiver pack and the battery developed a fault just as I was spooling up. I had no control and she was trying to lift off so I grabbed the tail and drug her a few feet so I could grab a rock I let go and just as the lifted off dropped the rock through the disk I felt like I was putting down a rabid dog.

As a result now all my helicopters have a heavy fishing line attached to the fuel line. The line is run down the underside of the boom to the tail then it is lightly tack glued in spots with CA that way if anything like that happens again a quick tug on the line will pull the fuel line off. I should have never allowed myself to be talked into using a lipo as a receiver pack I just don't think the plates and internal connections of Lipo packs are reliable enough for use with Nitro powered helicopters.

I do love my old Schluters

Personally I think the Junior 50 was the best of the bunch, She was way ahead of her time I had modified the head for better inverted performance. Running a 2K plus head speed that old bird flew like she was on rails! Can you believe I actually used to beat out a 60's in rotation contests. That is until pilots at the fun flys started complaining about me doing run on landings and not spot landings . I used to auto her like a dead stick plane and slide her right onto the spot.

Anyhow that brings back a lot of memories hey if anyone is interested I can take some pictures

We used to run a variety of engines in Champions; Webras, Rossi's, OS, Enya and YS come to mind.

For a modern engine I would probably run an OS 70. The modern choice of pipe may be a challenge due to the fact that the canopy and backplate is close to the exhaust port of the engine.

I know this is early but how about a "handmade" schluter cobra. I just stripped the old paint off of it yesterday.
