First Actual Flight Scorpion 1100kv, 5s 4400mAh Flight Power, 12T pinion
I am a total newbie at this butI finally got a chance to get the Cobra in the air. It took a while. First the head speed was too slow and the tail was jumping up and down. I changed motors and pinions and got it too high and had a terrific vibration. It seems to be OK right now but there is still an oscillation vibration going on. One of my more experienced heli buddies suggested that the damping in the head was not adequate.
I couldn't actually feel any "give" in the head at all so last night I reamed out the damping O-rings a bit and also thinned out the brass shims enough that I could feel some movement and will try another flight when the weather is better. All in all though it was an awsome flight and got rave reviews from the guys at the flying field. I want to thank everyone who has cotributed to this forum.
Jim

Second flight
Thank You all for the kind comments.
The weather finally has gotten good enough that I was able to fly the Cobra again after the adjustments I made to the dampening O-Rings and feathering shaft. What a difference. She was smooth as silk. For a totally new heli guy like me it is invaluable to have a forum like this and some experienced heli pilots at the flying field to get me going. This is such a complex hobby that is has to be nearly impossible for a new person to "go it" alone. Thanks Again. Jim

Hi BeltFedBrowning, You guys have had some bad weather out there too. Hopefully, it is going to be better now for a while.
The Cobra was a really fun winter project. The kind that you can keep going on for a long time if you want and make it as nice as you have the patience for.
Now I am busy flying and doing mainentance, sometimes lots of maintenance, if you know what I mean. If I can be of any help let me know. Jim

nice looking bird ,i have a suggestion ,take it for what its worth . i noticed your tail comes about really fast when your flying ,, i had the same issue on my 500 ,,i added 20% expo on my tail and it smoothed out alot. just a suggestion. but otherwise awsome bird man.

Thanks, that is a good idea. This is my first and only scale heli and flying it in a scale manner is something I need to learn. I would really hate to bore the forum members but after I get a few more flights in maybe I can make another video. Right now I get really nervous flying the Cobra so spend most of my flying time on the Trex 500. Jim
