Heli Blaze-- Grand Prairie, Texas, 2009
Golden Triangle R/C Club # 610

We will host our 2nd annual Heli Blaze in June 26th-28th

I have been to almost all the FF's this year getting interest up for my 2nd Heli Blaze.
I have learned allot from these FF's.
Because of Jammie Robertson changing this year's date to the last weekend in June 2009, more of the top notch XFC pilots that were at Mt. Pleasant and Austin showed their interest in attending in 2009.

Here is a HD news cast that was released last year of the Heli Blaze
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2YNVB7wtIDw]

Pictures of last years event
http://www.gtrcc.org/Heli%20blaze%2...age%20links.htm[/url]

HD will be here again this year along with local news stations and GP reporter and Dallas Morning News for the media crew.

Last year we gave away 4200.00 in pilot prizes and all the pilots knew they were appreciated for attending.
Last years RR post is at
http://runryder.com/t400921p1/?highlight=heli+blaze
Their are several pages of comments missing for some reason.

Event Flier is at http://www.gtrcc.org/

Final figures were 225 spectator cars and 43 registered pilots.

This year Golden Triangle has hired a pro chef vendor to provide the food and good food and plenty of it for everyone.

2009 Heli Blaze more to come later.
"where pilots KNOW their appreciated for attending"

School owns me right now. Believe me it sucks. This semester is almost over and I'll come up to Dallas and we can fly our helis and hit a bar or something afterwards; maybe drop in on Dave and eat his steaks.

Hotels
Ron,

Is there any host hotels? Are where will most everyone be staying? I like to party in My room, and invite anyone who likes to drink and shoot the breeze.

The real question, is there enough room at your field to allow pilots, who chose not to play in the event, to still have room to fly out of the event area?

Ok i will help with the planning of the events. I like a double elemanation durning the drag race. only if there is a limited amount of pilots. I fell it gets a better chance to a true second place. most of the time the 2nd place guy was knock out in the 1st round by the 1st place guy and a rare guy end up in second who was not really that good. It wasn't even a contest most of the time. there even ways to have a triple elemanation. the only trouble is this can eat up alot of time if there are more then 10 pilots. About an hour or so. we can play by ear the day of.

Of course there has to be an Auto contest. I have 1 of Ron Luns disc for that. I'm even going to try this year. I am getting better at my autos

The last thing i was think was to have a trex450 are smaller (no 500s) pylon/carnage race. These are fun and yes carnage does happen in these. But everyone racing have fun. I never seen anyone get upset because they crashed or had a midair.

Their was two motels last year that hosted and I have a meeting set
for middle of April with them again. both are about 6 miles from the field, and 2 others are closer but their a extended stay type deal.

Drag race's are way kewel...... and your right they can eat up alot of time on the main flight line.

Their are two large separate beginner areas for the beginners to play

I'm also going to want to have a couple of the pro's that will help with test-n-tune's when needed.

drag racing
Getting all the info to set up a good drag race. I'm in contact with Ken Jenning out of Ohio. I am going to make up some rules to make the event go fast. Trying to get the heats to last no longer then 3 Min for all three runs. I calculated that if there is around 12 pilot racing the event should take about 1 hour with double elemantion. That is 22-23 heats. If it takes 5min per heat then it could take just less then 2 hours. So let keep the times down.

This is what i am looking at for now.

Rule 1: SAFETY all ways be safe.

Rule 2: Be ready when your name is called for the next heat. 30 seconds to get to the line or you forfeit that run until 1 min then you forfeit that heat.(2 loses) Time start after we recover the helis from the prior heat. Best to have your heli runnig while the recovery is happen.

Rule 3: After your first run return to the start line less then 20 seconds for the next run or 30 second clock starts. If you have a malfuntion (I.E. flame out, or crash) then the 30 second clock starts automatic. A back up Heli can be aquired if needed. Just have 30 second to get it fired up and on the line. (This might need to be bumpt incase of crash recovery is needed)

Rule 4: 2 false starts = 1 lose.

Let me have some input
