Hey Greg turn on spell check!!!

That's Governor.

Seriously though you enjoy governor flight over the old idleup?

back on topic I did work on my heli today the fuse made it tail heavy So I was trying to figure out the weight I needed ended up being 12oz.

And that's not fluid oz either my beer bottle on the skids was too much weight. 2 lipo packs was just right But I am not gonna use a total of 3 3S lipos in it. Just going to the tire shop to pick up good old lead wheel weights.

Thanks slider I coach softball for a girl who's father owns the local tire shop. I just walk in his shop and grab what weights I need he is getting used to it, sometimes I give him a buck or two sometimes I dont.

Yes, gov mode is much better. I set the 3 desired headspeeds in software and use the 3 settings (norm, stunt1, stunt2) to switch between them. The headspeed is the same from the start to the end of the pack. No more wild to mild flights where the pack fades through the flight. The gov compensates for that granudally increasing the throttle to maintain the set headspeed.

My TREX 500 now has a new $21 motor.

It works OK but, I'm only getting 5 minute flights vs. 6 minute flights with the stock motor.

I increased the pinion to drive gear slop to just a smidget.

Dinked with HS.

I guess I'll just live with the 5 minute flights

Life is tough!

Sorry to hear that Mike. If still have the 500L around it might be worth to attempt to replace the bearings.

Accidentally put the hole on my Canomod (for the Knight) in the wrong place. It was only off by a few mm. But made it hard to get pin through the grommet. Instead the pin would just push one side of the grommet out.

Did some reseach on HF and found an approach I liked. Just use some fiberglass cloth and epoxy over the inside of the hole. Then re-do the hole. I did a test run on my Fusuno (for the T500) whose holes were too large anyway and it worked perfectly. I just applied the epoxy and fiberglass to other hole on the Fusuno and the 2 holes on the Canomod. After they set up, I'll re-do the holes with a body reamer. The nice thing about doing them this way is that it adds a little more strength to the spot where the canopy mounts.

I did some test flights on a 450 using a new $16 servo that is supposed to be a clone of a 9257. It was definitly digital and definitly fast. I started with a cheap gyro that was known to drift some, well it drifted, but the tail was holding in punch outs when it was not drifting. I'm gonna try it with some other gyros just to see how it does. I'm totally spoiled by my 520/9257 combo in my EXI pro. It feels flawless.

My daughter was sick with Ear infection so I volunteered to stay home in the morning. More testing today with that cheap arse tail servo.
I could not get it to work well with a GY48v, G401B, Futaba 520, Align GP750, so I took out a 450 with a G401B/JR290G combo. test flew it as is, it was nice and stable. Then put this Fitec $16 9257D in it. It was sucky. It acted like the wipers on the pot were fidgety and it would randomly wag or jitter. Pulled it back off and put the JR290G back in and it was tight again, no wobble, I can run the gain higher and no jitter. I had a Hyperion DS11-GCB that broke the case mounting flange on me the other day. Coincidence, so did my buddy. Looking around, Hyperion does not sell spare cases. So I ordered a 3 more DS290G servos. One for that 450, one for my buddy and one as a spare that I'll keep in case I need one or will sell to friends if they need one. The nice thing is that Heli direct sells spare cases and gears for it. Something I never thought about till now, I'd only thought about cyclic servo gears and cases before.

Interesting stuff.

The DS290G seems like a great value at $35.

I have one on my TREX250 that works very well.

I tried a $19 FUTABA with good specs that really sucked.

Found out how many cranks it takes putting fuel in my scale raptor without flooding and Hydrolocking my motor. And added a rod to extend out the fuselage to adjust the main needle.

Oh wait thats confusing on a esky heli forum huh?

I bought a used OS 32 carb to help make my Toki 40 run smoother. I mounted it and the throttle arm was 90 degrees off from the stock carb. I tried to loosen the nut that holds the arm and it snapped The threads stuck in the carb isn't the problem, it's finding another nut for the discontinued carb I might just break down and buy a OS 37 and junk the Toki
EDIT: Tower had them in stock so I just ordered one

I got a GP750 cause everyone talks it up, well it's "jittery" on me. I thought it was the motor I was testing, but swapped that and it still jitters if I turn the gain up. with the gain lower it does not hold well. Gonna swap another gyro and tail servo to see what the problem it.

Today i took the motor off the raptor. I was just checking everything out seeing if anything other than the top of the starter shaft was rusted. Luckily the only peace with rust is the top of the starter shaft. I also replaced the flybar. That's all i can do until the servos come in. the email i got from the guy said they should be here by Saturday. It shouldn't take that long. Should it? Its coming from Texas. He said he shipped out Friday. I guess tomorrow i am going to take the hawk apart.

Tore the HBFP apart today.
It has had an annoying, and pretty bad vibration in it. I finally flew it enough times to get tired of seeing the skids shaking in flight.

Turned out to be a simple balance issue.
Got her all buttoned back up, and . . . no more shake!
Seems it handle better now too!

Been trying to get the TR500 flying. Something is up with vibes or just my tail servo. It's jumping around on me. I tried a different Align gyro and same thing. I have a full size Hyperion DS20GMD on it. This is the same one I have on my e550. BEfore I go buying more stuff, I'm going to have to do some servo swapping and see if that gyro/servo combo works in my EXI 500 which has been flying fine. I really hate to have to do that since my 500 is flying fine but I also hate just spending $$ to troubleshoot.

I just recently put a better gyro and tail servo in a 100+ flight Blueray that has sloppy tail mechanics from being well used and abused and it kinda does something similar but not nearly as bad. Way more tolerable in the 450.

Swapped tail servo with another one in the 500. Will try to test it out tomorrow. I noticed some wobble in the tail blade grips. I added a 5mm shim between the hub and inner radial bearing and that eliminated the slop totally. Now I noticed the slop in the other blade. It's not nearly as bad as the first one so I'll just test fly this as is tomorrow. I did not put on the good mainblades nor the good tail blades but I don't think that should cause this tail jitter if both of what I put on are balanced.
