Furion build
MY wife won a Furion at IRCHA and she is letting me build this little guy up. It may be a little bit before I get it in the air but I didn't have much better to do so I started building it this evening.

Got step one done so far. Took about an hour and it went together very well. I will try to post pics tomorrow.

Looks like it will be one very nice little machine.

Word.

Yeah, someone here was saying it is only a 4-5 hour build.
Thats not how fast it went for me.

Have fun!

If they said 4-5 hours they must have meant the mechanics only.My first kit took around 10. The second around 8. The build was easy and very enjoyable as the parts fit was perfect.Every bearing pressed in tight and frame alignment was perfect. The tail box to boom fit was better than I have seen in any machine in 15 years of flying heli's.This one is NOT going to rotate at any rpm.Enjoy the build and more importantly fly it a.s.a.p!!All these micros somehow turned my 450 into my BIG machine!?!?!?

I guess it all depends on how many models you have built over the years. I have done many, almost all Miniature Aircraft. Only difference with the Furion is it isn't exactly the same as the other Miniature Models as far as building, but still a joy to put together.
I had one of the first 5 kits sent out by MA to go through the instructions, checking for errors and if there were any issues or missing parts. I put it together in two very easy nights, 2-3 hours each night, including radio programming. That part was actually simpler than the model build due to Carey's fine instructions (and the fact that I was using a 14MZ as Carey did). The way I found the easiest was to first check for all parts in the bag I was assembling from, then I laid the parts out exactly as the exploded view looked and assembled. Not that difficult at all, and I was making notes as I went along. Either way, you will thoroughly enjoy the model once you have it flying.

I'm nearly done with the build as well. Airframe went together great, the tolerances are much better than "other" popular brands. I've been kinda lagging on wiring it as It's my least favrite thing to do...

It is my heli but I am sharing it with him. I am building the Protos so everything equals out.

Electronics Install?
Since a couple of the posts here have mentioned noise from the ESC interfering with gyro operation, I'm thinking of mounting the gyro on top of the boom block rather than underneath. Anyone see any problems with that?

I would use a strip of the thick grey 3M double sided tape on either side of the block so as not to restrict block movement for boom adjustment. This tape works wonders on my 50s, so I figure it's good enogh for this use.

I also am considering a Spartan ds760 gyro rather than the 401 (I have both), is this gyro just major overkill for the application?

Although this is my first electric, I'm really loving this sweet little bird, hope it survives my clumsy 50 nitro thumbs!

I'm hoping a few more of you guys with 450/electric build experience will post some pics of your electronics install. Thanks in advance for the help!

Okay, let's try this picture thing. Here is my Furion from both sides with radio installed. I am having NO issues at all with interference from gyro, ESC or anything. Yes, the receiver looks like a pain to get to, but 4 screws and the battery tray comes right off and the RX is in instant access.Team Synergy/Rail, Team Scorpion, YS Engines, VelTye

This is my wiring. I had to take the ESC off but it will mount to the one empty side and the wiring will go around the other side and help to tidy up that last few wires.

Well no one answered my question about the Spartan gyro in words, but I think HFG gave me a good indication with his photos! Nice work guys, thanks for the help/ideas.

I'm not really crazy about the idea of the ESC mounted on the side, but for the sake of keeping the thing cool it looks like the right thing to do. I really like the gyro location in the second set of pics too.

Here is what I have done so far. I am still waiting on the electronics but that shouldn't be too long though hopefully.

The only issue I had was with the tail grip sleeve. The screw holes on that spacer are beveled. When I slid the grip on, before I screwed it into place, I checked the alignment. It looked close enough that the sleeve would turn into place as I tightened the screws down. That didn't happen. The screws sort of made their own holes.

I love this kit. I know that others have had some issues but heaven forbid you have to hobby up a build. After all, it is actually a kit and not slapping together 4 sub assemblies.

I you really want a top of the line 450, I say go for it. Rock the Furion!
