Front Tail Gear Bearing Problem
Greetings all-

For the life of me, I can't get these bearings to side on to this plastic gear.

I thought of heating the bearings up but I don't want to warp the plastic with hot metal when I slide them on.

I am sure some of you have replaced this gear so please tell me how you got the bearing on without damaging the plastic.

Thanks-

Jason

If you heat the bearing all of it will expand, outside will get larger and the inside will get smaller.
Try putting the bearing in the freezer for 10-15 minutes,Put the bearing in a plastic bag first.

Just press it on. Use a socket and a small vise.

Not here on planet EARTH the inside will get bigger also!!!
Just press it on use a drill press or a C clamp and some wood blocks no need to heat anything

Drill Press??
Guys, all I have are hand tools (no drill press). I don't even know what a C clamp is. Nothing fancy here.

I'll look and see if I have a socket that will fit.

Any other ideas?

Use what you have....
Well, I got a little creative and got it done. Two screw drivers, a coffee table, and one hammer.

I just held the bearing in place with the drivers, levered the driver tips against the table, then hammered gently on the gear.

Done.

Thanks for yor help guys. At least now I know what a C clamp is!
