That’s what I like about Curtis, he is always pushing the envelope of what is possible with a heli.
First crash was due to trying to make the tail blades cut the grass while doing a tail-down hurricane around a piro-flipping heli, second crash was flying behind a sign a few thousand feet away. He flew the heli out of sight behind the sign for like 10 seconds, then tried it again and got to close to the sign and tangled up the blades in the rope holding the sign up. Cool stuff!

Curtis is ALWAYS very entertaining to the crowd
Which is worse, ignorance or apathy? I don't know and I don't care!

Personally, I wish the guy would just finish a flight! Yea it's great that he's pushing the envelope of 3D flight - but jeez, fly a whole 5-6 minutes before crashing.

No, I wasn't kidding!

Not once did I question the "godfathers" ability. I'm just making an observation.

The past two years at IRCHA, he crashed during his demo flights.

Is it asking too much to be able to see the guy fly in person? Wow, you cheerleaders really back your team! Ha!

Whoa - let's step back here, Mr. DougsRC!

All I said is that I would like to see him perform a full flight. Period. Never did I question his skills or what he had done and is doing for our hobby!

My God - get off the soap box, man. Rough night drinkn'last night?

This was my first IRCHA. Up until that point I have never seen Curtis fly. What a treat for me seeing him fly and was one of many memorable highlights. If it ends in a crash so be it. Pushing the envelope is ok in my book. Mr. Youngblood is one of the best in this hobby.

Hey guys,

I have no problem with "could he finish a flight already". That is what I was thinking as well. In fact Zack told me I just had to make it two minutes and I only made it 1:30 in the first demo. And I actually think I am up to 4 years in a row now of not finishing a noon time demo at IRCHA. Although I flew all week down on the left end of the field without a crash.

Honestly, I do not fly nearly as much 3D as I used to (busy most of my time making all the CJYE stuff or doing stuff for JR or practicing for FAI). When I get out for the noon time demos I still try to "push it". I do not have that voice in my head that says "hey, you have not been flying enough lately to do this stuff". So I push it and crash. My apologies to the guys that this disappoints. Hopefully in the coming year I can find enough practice time to put on better shows next year.

Curtis,

Please don't get me wrong - as others have on this topic. I was just making an observation over the years, as you too, have pointed out.

I appreciate what you can do with a heli - super duper 3D or not!

I had the privilege of seeing him fly all week on the other end of the field. Watching Curtis fly has always been fun no matter what he is doing.

Thanks for a great week!

I just wanted to add my two cents. Yes, Curtis was at Ircha and yes he does crash some (who doesn't)but the guy is probably the nicest and most helpful person in the hobby you ever wanted to meet.

He will be at Mt. Pleasant Texas on September 19,20 for the Southern Rotary Classic and he has even been generous enough to give us one of his new RAVES to give away just prior to the nightfly.

And we hope to get him to do some demos with it at the event Friday evening during our 450/500 class demo session.

So if you didn't see him at Ircha or you did seem him there come check him out at the mini addition of Ircha in Mt. Pleasant, and by the way not only will Cutis be there but all these other great pilots have said they are intending to come too, along with some still others that I am waiting to recieve the official word from.
