Frightning madien flight
Can I first just say that the heli feels feather light in the air, much lighter than my Trex600N, very impressed.

Well I had about 5mins of flight (breaking in the engine) so it was very conservative, suddenly the heli starts violently piroetting! So I hit the collective slightly to gain a small amount of height, then throttle hold and auto'ed back down. As I landed I had a small amount of rotational speed and at the last moment the heli tipped over, fortunately the heli's blades had amost stopped anyway. I ended breaking the top 2 links connecting the mainblade grips to the swash, also I didn't have my canopy on so no damage there. I consider myself very lucky

Post crash diagnostics revealed a DS8900G motor failure on a brand new tail servo (regulated via AR7100). I rechecked that tail push-rod front and rear and it's silky smooth.

I will be taking JR up on their 3year warranty.

Glad you were able to use your superior flying skills to get it down in one peice!

I just had a 8900 fail me, after a seasons use. The motor just was very weak, and the gyro was unable to hold the tail.

I would be asking for a refund and buying a more robust tailservo, what good is a 3 year warranty on a servo with the potential to do three times its cost in damage. S9256/9251 have never failed on me....yet

Well I have had tail servos die before, however normally after a year or so of being trashed (as do many people).

I'm hoping that it's a one off, unless this tail servo is known to be dodgy?
