Top Gear Crystal Ball
Often on this program you will see them driving new, high-powered cars at race speeds on some remote welsh island or through mountain ranges even on snow and ice.

But they’re often driving around hairpins and driving on the wrong side of the road to take the smoothest line.

What I’d like to know is how do they know if any poor, unsuspecting member of the public who doesn’t have an Audi with ABS and instead is pootling along in an old Astra, knows they are there on their side of the road?!

you kill-off

So what do you think their spotter car is and who's driving it?

It's gotta be good to keep in front!

Got a chance to watch a few episodes of this show a month or so ago. Very entertaining. Wish I was able to catch more of it this side of the pond.---------

I am not sure about this show, but when we shoot car commercials we have highway patrol(or local PD). Usually one at each end of the road and they will shut it down so we can get our shots. They are in direct radio contact with the production company so we know when it is safe to proceed..

Verizon fios has it on BBC channel here.

They are funny guys, albeit I sometimes just dont get them. But enjoy the show regardless. The faceless pro-driver is cool.

Reminds me of the unknown comic.

and driving on the wrong side of the road to take the smoothest line.
I do that all the time...... WHEN I CAN SEE THE ROAD AHEAD IS CLEAR. There's nothing wrong with using ALL the road in certain circumstances, after all that's what my road fund licence pays for - the road and not just the left hand side of it

Sometimes it is hard to tell from the camera angles whether the driver can see around the bend or not (I take your point about the blind hairpins), but as has been said, the road's either closed or there's spotter cars (and editing).

Did you see the one where the team challenged the German car show? Our guys turned up in Spitfires (Supermarine, not Triumph) hehe!
