Vibe 50: TT Redline vs. YS50, my opinion on the two motors
Just installed a new YS50 on my Vibe 50 last week and have flown it about a dozen times since with awesome results. First the quality of the YS compared to that of the Redline is apparent immediately. Everything about the YS says quality and the fit is perfect in the Vibe 50. Next tuning is simple and straight forward. Set and forget is the phrase I hear often and how accurate it is. After three or so tanks I started to lean it out and man is the power awesome. Full throttle 12+ degree vertical climbouts don't even phase this motor. Tictocs are effortless and the mixture never leaned or richened once. This motor is the best ever, and I've flown them all. If the Redline is rated at 2.1 hp then the YS has to be higher. I noticed the engine runs rough for about three seconds after the first spool up probably do to the lag of tank pressure build up. But after that, it's game on. I love this motor, and if it keeps up with this pace I'll probably be pulling my OS91 out of my Vibe 90 this fall and replacing it with the new YS91 long stroke. You have got to try this motor, it is worth every penny. Some tips on installation, use a 4mm set screw to plug the pressure tap on your pipe. Also, I ran the pressure line up the same side as the engine feed line, this enables me to access the pressure release plug without burning my hand on a hot muffler, which must be vented in order to fill the tank. And I used some short lengths of shrink tubing to shield the pressure line from chaffing against the bottom frame brace and the motor mount. I'll get some pics up shortly

If you give the motor 2 - 3 short spins with the starter, will full throttle, the engine idles straight off. The instruction say 10 seconds, but with a full tank, it doesn't take much to pressure that small air space.Terry

I really liked my YS50. Great power, ran consistently, and easy to tune. But my Redline blows it away in every way. More powerful, easier to tune, lighter, less expensive, less complex, and it's a nice shiny red. By far the best engine I've owned.Nick Crego

we'll have to agree to disagree, I know up here in the northeast especially this time of the year ambient air temps can vary by as much as 30 degrees from afternoon to early evening, It seems like I'm constantly chasing the needles on the Redline, the YS on the other hand, move the high speed needle a click or two in either direction and presto

The Redline makes far more power than the YS and is more consistant. It's been debated time and time again but with 2 machines setup identically the Redline smokes the YS.

Also, there have been several issues with the YS bearings going bad in a very short time where as the Redline has had little issues.

At IRCHA the new carbs were handed out for the Redline and they made the motor even smoother and easier to tune.

If the 106 Redline is anything like the 53...WOW.
