Help... Hatori SB-19 Mounting
What do you guys use for a gasket when mounting the hatori. Do I use silicone? Paper gasket? or Nothing?

Quick help appreciated. Trying to finish new 700 up tonight so I can fly tomorrow.

Thanks guys,
Jim

I have used nothing and RTV with great success. If you go with RTV, use a very, very thin coat. Less is more! Let it set up a little before you put the pipe on so that it's somewhat sticky.

Warning, make every attempt not to get any RTV in the engine or header. If you do, it will foul your plug as soon as you get it up in the air.

5 minute epoxy or copper high temp RTV.Part 107.
The only ZERO flight hour certificate in the world.

I used to use copper high temp RTV, but have switched to Permatex Ultra Black, just a very small amount does the trick, a friend that flys with us is a motorcycle mechanic and they use the Ultra Black to put crankcase halves together.Clyde Fox

For an OS, I use a KSJ gasket. You MUST go back and retorque the bolts several times as the gasket fully compresses. After that, it seals well, comes off easily, and has no mess.

For a YS, use RTV or the like. You can't easily access the header bolts on a YS mounting w/o removing the canister.

I have always used copper RTV but I recently got a SB 18 Hattori and it came with two or three gaskets ..I used one and it seems to work perfectly.

as i was putting the engine back in my raptor from checking the clutch i had a roll of teflon tape sitting there i decided to run a strip right over the the holes in the muffler and with a sharp knife just put slits in the bolt hole areas and cut out the exh. port
entirely, the teflon doeesn't like to be cut across but i managed just fine... after test flights no more oil all over the place especially under the copter and landing gear area.
BOY, IF I HAD A RUBBER HOSE!!!
