ouch...

there is a reason why I use a rubber band to keep throtle in down position until ready to fly.

attached from carrying handle behind radio, then down and under radio to front where it keeps stick down...FWIW.

BTW...title is misleading.

you would think after getting hit the first time he would of got awy from the prop. Been flying over 40 years and never seen no one do that much damage to themselves.

I think the whole wound WAS the first time! How many thousand rpm is the prop doing - my guess is enough for several revolutions to hit before the pain signals hit the brain and it signals the reaction to get the hell out of Dodge.

Tach.

Whoa. Hope you feel better and the wound heals well.

Someone mentioned that the neck strap hit the gas wide open? Isn't there a Throttle Hold for the engine?

Ohh my.. Thats hurt.
On our field we have to secure the plane to the ground or someone must hold the tail when we start up the engine.
All for the safety..

That's horrific! I'm running 32 inch props on 40% electric sometimes and although I do things safely (always stand behind the plane etc) I never think about what unjury it could do!DSX9

I have been on crutches for the last two years (motocross accident) anyway, I got into R/C as a result of not being able to pursue my other hobbies involving internal combustion. Anyway. . .I started out with planes about a year ago, and after seeing a friend of mine accidentally bump the throttle while carrying his plank to the flight line, it got me to thinking about how easily I could do the same while on crutches. I programmed a mix in for all my airplanes that acts as a throttle hold on all my planks. So, as I set my plane on the ground, then walk to the flight line before taxi. . . I don't have to worry about inadvertantly hitting the throttle.

Hope it heals up bro. . .injuries SUCK!! Make SURE to put some kind of silver dressing on it. The silver dressing is an anti-microbial and will help prevent infection. Don't take it for granted either. My "four month injury" turned into a two year ordeal due to a post-surgical staph infection. It was a LOW grade infection, but it sure put my life on its ear. Trust me when I tell you, do NOT play around with this. Something that big gets infected, worse case scenario, you could lose that limb.
