Earning a place on the Ignore List
So -

What does it take to get to the point where you need to place someone in that not so coveted "Ignore List".

For me, a genuine lack of desire for the hobby that is exhibited by never talking about flying, crashing, new stuff, old stuff, events, asking for help, offering help etc.

I am sure that you know the type that only look forward to inciting commotion about politics and which candidate sucks the worst, while many of them have not seen daylight for many moons and generally smell crap as they have their heads tightly wedged past their own sphincter.

Prior to getting to the point of saying things that reflect poorly or cause Mark's eyebrow to rise and hit pink button, I find it best to reach for the ignore check box and let er rip.

For me -

I only have around 9 - 10 on the ignore list and yes, they have richly earned it.

What about you?

I've only got one on mine at this point. I have on again off again placed another member who shall remain nameless. I am about ready to put this person back on for good and throw away the key forever however. This particular person has gotten so bad, he/she starts a new thread four times in one hour just to bash a presidential candidate. He calls every member he disagrees with racist, rednecks and acts like a spoiled little brat. In fact, as I am thinking about this, this might be the day I rid him forever. I thought RR was a place for us all to meet and greet and share ideas in a friendly environment.

I've got no problem with discussing politics in the off topics, but this particular person just can't handle it like an adult. Also, it's the same thing over and over again and anytime his/her posts get a page or two back, he creates a new topic just to keep the argument going.

You can probably coral together quite a few RR member's that fit into that category.

I don't use the ignore list. Once in a while it's fun to just piss around and float through to see what mindless repetitive stuff has been said.

Other than that, it's pure soap opera, mindless banter for the most part in the OT threads.

Some good tidbits though.
... But honey it was only $$$

I hate the idea of using an ignore list.
But some people just live to incite. I can handle someone disagreeing. Heck, I like rational discussions with people that don't agree with me. But when the responses are mainly made of childish insults....Well that gets old.

You need not say the persons name, you described him quite well

I don't have anyone on my ignore list

Every time I see the political stuff and how worked up everybody gets it cracks me up.I'm going to keep busting my ass working hard and everybody else can wring their hands wondering if their guy gets in to somehow save them.

I ignore everybody who puts me on their ignore list.

Personally I think the ignore feature is fundamentally flawed *eh hem* MARK ya listening?? *eh hem*

Seriously, my only beef with the ignore feature is that if I am on somebodys ignore list, I am not allowed to respond to one of the threads that they started. I have respectfully brought this up to Mark in the past, but he seems set in his way.

A ~better~ implementation of the function, IMO, would be to allow the person to make the post, but have a warning that you are on the topic starters ignore list so, therefore, they will not see your reply.

The advantage to my suggested implementation is that you can still communicate with other posters within the topic who may still be interested in hearing different view points.

At the end of the day it's just a fancy mechanism to transmit zereos and ones across a network of computers, not worth getting riled up over.

Why do I get the idea that the OP is pointing the finger right at Lou?

I could never put Lou on my ignore list. Many priceless laughs have resulted from reading his posts

As I have stated before.....
With such a tremendously over sized penis and ego it is virtually impossible for me to become so offended by someone that I would need a silly computer program to ignore them.
Resolute, steadfast and with will and fortitude surpassing the average human being, I require no such accomodation.

A UPS man has claimed that he once delivered a partially damaged package to Fuzz, that clearly contained a "modesty appliance" for the well endowed and incontinent.
