Thats what im leaning to, but the lack of MMS and the non turn by turn GPS bugs me. Small flaws overall, but still bugs me.

I know the MMS fix is to send pics via email, but we will see if they come out with a software upgrade to incorporate MMS.

LG Dare
I have the LG Dare its a great phone, but it really depends on what you want to do with the phone. Here are a couple of sites that break down all of the info.

well two fixes for those problems.

1) If you want turn by turn gps, get a garmin or tomtom. The iPhone is not designed to be a turn by turn gps. It would be nice if it had it. It is excellent if you need to look at directions rather quickly and get your bearings. For long trips and actual gps directions, you would be better off getting one of the two GPS systems i listed already.

2) MMS messages. You do have email on your phone, which can allow you to send and receive pictures which can be saved to your phone from there. This can be substituted for mms messaging but it isn't the same. If I need to do a MMS message on my phone I just use email. works just as easily IMO.

I have played with the LG Dare and I own an iPhone 3g. I personally really dislike the Dare. One thing I like about the iPhone over the dare is web browsing. How cool is it to be actually using a web browser instead of Verizon's web service? My sister's friend just got the Dare and she is charged per webpage that she visits. The iPhone has one flat rate and you can surf the web to your own hearts desire!

Jason, Do yourself a favor and get the iPhone. Trust me man. I have had mine for a month now and I absolutely love it!

Thats not really true I dont get charged for anything I do on my phone because I have set pricing $139.00 a month I get unlimited everything calls, text, email, navi etc...There are different pricing there is a plan for everyone.

I use to have AT&T and reception was always bad thats why I switched
to verizon.

But like computers there will be a newer and better phone to come.

well you do have the iPhone beat there for the unlimited everything package. By 20 bucks to be exact.

However.... for most people, they really don't need unlimited text, calls and stuff like that, and the iPhone becomes cheaper. right around 70 bucks for the cheapest plan of 450 minutes, Unlimited data, 5000 night and weekend minutes, and then an extra 5 bucks for 200 texts. AT&T also has roll over minutes, so you could end up having a couple thousand minutes to use up by the end of the billing year.

I don't know much about the dare plans, but I would actually like to see a side by side comparison of plans between the iPhone and the Dare to see what is cheaper over all. Are the cheaper plans the ones where they charge per web page usage? Is it anything similar to what the iPhone's browser is? (These are just questions, not bashing type questions. Asking because I really don't know)

For myself, my iPhone plan is as follows.

900 peak minutes with Unlimited night and weekend minutes, Unlimited data, and Unlimited text for 109 a month. Roll over minutes are included also. Personally for a smart phone that is the caliber of the iPhone, I think it is a pretty good price.

I have a iPhone 3G and I had a Samsung BlackJack. The BJ was a good phone, but the iPhone is bullet fast. I mean for browsing on the 3G network it is almost as fast as at home on my wireless G router. I am VERY impressed and I am hard to impress.

I LOVE the thing aleady and the word on the street is the next update down the line for Apple is to add the abilities to MMS you are talking about. Right now lots of people are having problems with the iPhone dropping calls. I had the problem for the first three days. They put my old sim card (2 year old one from my BJ in) and that is a no-no. Went back to store and had them put in a new fresh one and viola. Works perfect now. It would jump from the 3G network to Edge fine, but when the signal became stronger it would try to jump back to 3G all in the middle of the call and drop every time. The solution is like my BJ did and it was BULLETPROOF call wise. If signal degrades to Edge mid call from 3G the phone is to STAY on Edge for duration of call regardless of signal strength. No reason to jump back to 3G mid call as it is not needed for the function being performed. Talk. The processor Apple used is VERY descriminating and in about 2 weeks Apple says (early September) they have a new firmware upgrade to competly solve the problem. It will encode the 3G chip to do what I described. One thing about Apple is they wil not sit by and do nothing.

Mine does not have this problem. Only some do. Less than 20%. In a few weeks none will most likely. The sales rep where I got mine at AT&T told me only two customers have had this problem of all the hundreds they have sold and they swapped them for new phones and it solved the problem both times.
