Ya it sucks that it only takes one ahole to cause problems for all. Our club is on state land, we maintain it and so forth. We have a noise ordinance in affect, no flying before 10 a.m. and electric only from 6 p.m. to dusk on friday and saturdays. This is because the plane guys always flew their giant scales over the camp ground and people got upset because they were there for the outdoors and not having rumbling engines above.Brian

Hey guys -

Should've mentioned that it's not a club. BUT there are many in the 'group' that want to set some guidelines to keep the rebels in check.

I have noticed that much of the attitude seems to come from no knowlege of the rules. Alot of these people prob started out with little park flyers (plank or heli), & now are steppin up to bigger badder gear, but never learned what 'WE' would consider normal field rules.
I say this 'cuz this individual came out this week while I was out,(with a few plank pilots) & almost put the FURY into some parked cars. He was pretty un-nerveed about it & apolegetic, and as I kinda talked with him, I got the impression that no one ever realy gave him alot of 'mentor' type guidance. We talked a little about his machine & setup, some flying skills & when he left, he said it was great flying with us.

Maybe just some exposure to field etiquette will go a long way . .

Dee: yes, try and explain it to him about basics. It only takes one time for something bad to happen to change someone's mind and arrogance. You never want it to come to that but maybe you have established an accord with him and can now talk to him. Where we fly we aren't a club either, but of course we have rules and the like(though of course sometimes someone breaks the flight line, but we are trying to work it out. Things can and do take time).

Hopefully your talk and education with him will spur him to making more "sensible" and safe decisions.
Every time I fly I loose more hair! LOL
