Pitfall,

You need to enable the mix and have it set to GY mode...

As you mentioned you'll have 2 values, Avc 'Head Holding' Mode and Normal which is the old fashioned way gyro's used to work and is also used to set the tail pitch rod up on the 401. Its worth doing this to get the best from your 401 whilst in Head holding mode.

To do this spool your heli up to your ideal head speed flick into normal mode and see if the tail drifts, if it does land adjust the tail rod to add more or less pitch depending on which direction the heli drifted...

Once you can hover in Normal mode with your flying head speed and the tail doesn't drift your set to go...

Your best setting a starting value of 50% on both modes and seeing how the tails performs. If it wags lower the gain, if it doesn't up it till it does and back off a bit...

As for the end points, they adjust the piro rate for the tail. If you find the tail to fast at full travel on the stick lower the end point.

Hope this helps

so what your saying is that standard was the old way it was set up and that i should have the 10c set to gyro and activate the settings. why does the 10c have the old settings, plus why does the manual not explain things better

You've got it!... Not sure why its not explained better in the 10C manual but if you do a search on setting up a 401 this is a common practice for setting up the gyro.
