Did they use crappy metal to make every set screw, screw and bolt in this 500!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I cant even get the heli together, so far I have one set screw that crumbled in the flybar cage, and 3 fram screws that go into the plastic base! I cant even get them out. I used the supplied alin key!!!!!
And dont say use a align screw driver set either doesn't do anything. So how are u getting these things together? I cant even get the frame screws in all the way! Did they run a bad lot or something? Im simple amazed my 450 i put together 2 days ago didnt have a single screw strip so what gives!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Im hoping since my friend owns the hobby shop he can send it back and get me another one this is bull!!!

Okay now that im done venting does anyone know anything about this?

man I just built a trex 600 and nearly ended up haveing a mental breakdown, I was so careful with the screws, the screw that holds the ball joint onto the tailcase I tightened with my thumb and first finger ever so gently and it stripped, they are great helis to fly but I just wish that they would use metal components instead of really soft plastic. As in the previous post it stripped before it even got to the torque part.

FenderBean, I have the exact same problem with my 500 build. Did you find a way to get it out. I might just have to buy another cage.

YES

When they get the better of me I slot the head with a dremel disc and then I can use a flat screwdriver to tighten them or get them out.

Thats exactly what I had to do, slot the screw heads with a dremel disc or you can try a 1/16th allen key, I think they must have made them for a 1/16th allen key instead of 1.5mm allen key.60% of the time, it works every time!

If you are worried about the screw quality but still want to use the supplied screws, When screwing into plastics if i find the screw is starting to bind i remove it at that point and lube it with any of the following.

1 Silicon oil / grease (Triflow)
2 Beeswax,
3 Furniture polish

Or at a pinch if I can't find any of the above soft soap,

The screws should then glide in without further probs, If they still bind I then relieve the hole with the correct size of drill, and try again.
All puns related to you know what, accepted

However I found tha all the screws went in ok in my trex 500, But getting them out could be a different story.
Good luck

Do not use the allen wrenches that are included. They are junk. I have had good luck using a 1/16 wrench to back out stripped screws. If the grub screw in the flybar cage is broken you may be out of luck. I have had some luck using JB weld to glue the allen wrench into the grub screw. But that has only worked a couple of times.

Yeah the align hex screws are slightly bigger than a 1.5 allen key! I don't think a 1/16th fits though!

some of the set screws have fractures in them that cause them to break off and get stuck.

I had a problem with a trex 450 build and ended up haveing to buy all new screws and the new style align hex tools because of this. The Align tools fit pretty good.

I only had a problem with the 450 build because I used the hex wrenches that came with the kit. As stated the screws that align uses are actually slightly larger then the standard.

These threads always leave me confused, because I built my 500 and re-built it once already without a single fastener problem! Maybe I got a special kit?

Get some Align or Dynamite drivers! I use these:

I can confirm that there is a problem with the set screws. Some of them have fractures and the top part of thread will break off under slight tension. It has nothing to do with what driver you use in this case, you can use the best drivers in the world or even from mars and will still break.
