Actually, Yes

Apart from the anti Align sentiments, I am interested in your technical appraisal that made you go away from the Rex500 or not to consider it at all.
The E550 is older than the Rex 500 so I would have thought a Rex would be competitive being a newer model. I have an E550 so am not questioning your decision or criticizing it, just interested in your decision process on the E550 selection.

I am looking harder at the Rex500 simply because of its size. This comes into play for batteries, flying area and transport. I also am thinking about other things. Mostly it comes down to the 500 having better local support, being slightly smaller to fit into my house and life, using $80-$180 batteries instead of $180-$280 batteries, and just being a cool helicopter.- Chris

Stocky what size blades do you fly on your e550??.And I will say this as I've said before,who pays retail?/ so far Ive bought a 6cell Extream V2 TP pack for 100 bucks with 20 cycles on it,flight power 5 cell 4250 off a friend that went to 6cell batterys for 125 bucks two months old,off the RR board 0ne flight power 6cell 3200 new in the bag for 125 and I just bought another 6cell flight off the board for 110 bucks.So the reason people with cost issues spend all this money on retail batterys is crazy,now people with money can buy what they want in bulk and never think about it but people on here talking about they cant afford batterys for bigger helis shouldn't be flying them anyway as they cant even figure out where to get a deal on batterys to fly them,so it is best they stay with there 450 size birds and continue to buy new 4cell batterys at the cost of 5 and 6 cell deals....

As for Lipo's, I have recently got 2 of these.
TrueRC 4000mAh 22.2V 6S1P pack @ $105
http://home.comcast.net/%7Etruerc/r...ready_packs.htm

I get the same flight time with these as I do on a FP 4900mAh which cost 3X as much. The TrueRc pack is 179g lighter at 595g as opposed to the FP at 774g.

but the in the pics the packs Look bigger

Not sure you are looking at the same picture as me. I have the "Stick style" and the TrueRC pack is about the same length, a little wider as a FP but less than 1/2 as thick.

FP = 279mm x 49mm x 33mm
TRC = 285mm x 20mm x 45mm

Most run 6s 2600s. You can run anywhere from a 4s 4000 to a 6s 3000 but the lower voltages run the esc and motor much hotter. I plan to run 6s packs but I am not sure how big. Since I am no 3D pilot, I am thinking about 3000 sized packs but the 2500-2600 packs are so cheap that I might go that route. Might even start with one of these guys.

Oh yeah TJ my fav the ole megapower. Thats what me and dougie ran till the HK packs showed up on the scene. Have you run them in the king? If not you wont be impressed they are very reliable but the power sucks in comparison to High quality packs. The discharge is linear you have good decent 3D power at full charge after half you only have good sport flying and the last minute or two just figure eights. gradual discharge of power unlike the good packs with power to the end.No Really I am the club President!!!

I have run both the 1350 and 2100 packs and I liked them just fine. Ues they have a nasty drop about 1min into the pack but after that they hold up just fine. They also run pretty how but they never puffed in the slightest and that is something I can not say about my expensive FMA packs. All of them are slightly puffy now and mfcrash's are the same. But for $81 each for a 6s 2600 pack, I might very well start there to get off the ground.- Chris
