Couple of questions
Just started building my 500. What servos do you guys recommend? futaba9257s or hitec 82mg or hitec 5245. Will be using a GY401 with 9650 on the tail. Can i run this setup on 6 volts? Also will be using a AR7000 Reciver. Where is the best place to mount the second reciever?? thanks

well im going to use DS3517MG High Speed Mini Servo MG. im going to run 6 volts on them im thinking about getting one for my 401 so I can run 6 volts also the 401 handles it just fine its usually the servo that want.
I just need to make sure the 3517 works ok with 401. Just started putting my 500 together last night. U running 6 cell or 8?

i run the hytech 5245's with great succses, but on my next 500 i'm going to try the mg82 hytechs, as my next 500 is going to be stk and be a warm up heli. so with a lower headspeed the cheaper servo's should be less noticeable.

so i guess it depends on what you whant to do with it, for a newbie mg 82's will be fine,i would'nt run the 9257's because they are plastic gears and to low of tourqe, there only advantage is speed, i've found the .10 speed fo the hytechs to be plenty fast.esecially since you put the balls way out at the end of the arms witch in effect speeds them up.and gives you a greater pitch range, i have 15/15 with pitch to spare, you can get 17/17 but the tail rotor won't hold that much pitch.15/15 is about the max that the tail will hold, and that's at 3200 hs.

The HS-82MG's are ok but they wont last long and you will crash as a result. Buy cheap and buy twice!... and the cost of a repair at the same time!60% of the time, it works every time!

I'm running 5245's. Work fine for me.

Maybe not for a 3D hotshot though.

Be sure to spray the belt!

Hitecs 5245 mg are working great for me, but hot shot 3d people don't seem to like them. I cant find fault, and they are a great price. I cant find the limits of their use in my flying style, so until I do I'll keep using them.Good luck

Well said.

Why pay for something you don't need?
