Trex 500 GF frame ESD issues
I just got myself a Trex 500 a few weeks ago.
Been doing the basics Nose-In/Out Hover/forward flights/figure 8's etc. I have not experienced a RX lockout yet but after reading soo many articles that talk about it, i am getting worried that this might happen to me. I heard that the lockouts caused by ESD are more frequent on the CF versions of the Trex500? Is this true?
Would getting the metal tail block upgrade help with ESD?
Would the G-Force Anti static plate and wick help?
[url=http://www.trextuning.com/blog/?p=290]

Any advice would help.

Thanks

I have been flying my GF frame 500 now for 2 months, and 75+ flights with absolutely no issues. I don't htink you need to worry about it. I haven't heard of any issues with the GF frames.

You can put a little dab of silicone shock oil on the belt to keep the ESD away.

Spray right into the tail end of the boom with pure silicone.

No petro additives.

KEL is good.

I got locked out on my GF 500, even after doing the anti-static mods. Now it's got the torque tube and seems to be good to go.

BTW- it was my 29th flight, and I use an AR6200.

NAG

Did you spray your belt?

I can't find a credible story of someone that sprayed their belt, and had a static reset.

Dave, you're lubing for friction between the boom and the belt.

IMHO, silicone SPRAYS and covers well.

Some compounds might attack your belt. Air tool oil?

I don't know. I wouldn't risk it.

I spray before every flying session when I oil my swash.

It happened to me with my AR6100.

It's a Spektrum thing.

Happened to me a few times with a 6100, imo it needs a satallite. Put a 7000 on and haven't had a lockout since. No spray on the belt, no extra grounding etc

I've been enjoying my CF 500 with 6200 Rx since January with no ESD issues. I used to spray the belt but haven't bothered for months. I miss the ESD posts that were so prevalent in the beginning, they always made me laugh. I think it was like 3 guys that just wouldn't let the threads die so it seems as though this ESD phenomenon was widespread. For a while there the 500 was almost magical in that the one and only way anyone ever managed to crash one was because of ESD.There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

I "believe" in ESD, I've had it plenty with my EP100, flying inside a dry house.

As soon as I sprayed the belt, the problem stopped.

IMHO, the 500 having a smaller diameter boom, is also prone to it.

I had a lockout even after doing everything, TT, ground esc, etc... Replaced the 6200 rx with a 7000 and I have been problem free for over 30 flights and counting now.

I personally wouldn't put a 6200 on any machine. They are ticking time bombs if you ask me. We have had several other losses at the field that can only be linked to this rx as well.
