wildcat fuel problem with os 37
hi i fuel my venture (os 37) with wildcat 20 percent fuel
0s no 8 plug 16 mm head shim

it was almost impossible to have a good headspeed wen the engine was hot
it have almost no power to climb the cabin was shacking like a blender
and after a gallon the plug was full of carbon

i tried an enya no 4 and the shacking stop the head speed was good
then i accidently turn the knob on my power panel and fry the no 4 plug

of corse it was my last no 4 plug and my lhs was closed

i have a gallon of cool power 15 percent from last years i put a brand new os no 8 and fuel my venture with 15 percent cool power

wow no more shaking she was climbing like a rocket
the head speed was constant throttel response was crisp
i think i had predetonation with wildcat fuel (to much nitro hi compression and a hot plug then the engine quit and i did my first auto splendid landing after inspection the carburator was hanging by the fuel line i think that i forgot to put the screws stupid mistake
my fault

or maby i should ad more head shims to lower the compression and run on 20 percent nitro and no 8 plug

concho-
Remember, when you change manufacturers of fuel you need to RESET your mixture setting be Wildcat, Cool Power or CY types of fuel!
Each fuel and nitro percentage burns differently in your engine so you need to adjust accordingly....
There is no "ONE SETTING" for all fuel manufacturers....

your right about reajust mixture setting with different fuel
and nitro percentage but if you run 30 percent nitro in a os 37 with the stock shim (8 mm) you will have predetonatiion problem due to the higer compression

colder plug is the solution i think and thicker head shim

I am running wildcat 20% with a bone stock OS 37 and she runs like a train. I haven't found the need for 30% so haven't tried it yet, but it runs great on the 20%. The plug is an OS 8, and there is no detonation. Wildcat fuels are pretty good IMO.Good luck

I have about 5 gallons through the 37, until now, before that my heli had a tt39 in it that had about 8 gallons through it. The plug I use is an OS 8 and it has worked well in both engines.
One note though when I first changed to wildcat from my previous fuel I had a few flame outs and had to re adjust the engine and run rich for about 5 tanks until it would hold the correct setting on the new wildcat fuel. After that all was fine.
This info was given to me from jerry at wildcat fuels, he was spot on with his advice and quick to return my e mails, That why I use his fuel. If you are getting problems give him an e mail and listen to his advice give it a try, I am sure you will solve your problems.
Good luck
