Metal Gear Solid!
I have just made two upgrades due to 2 crashes! One is changing my s9257 gears to metal! I stripped 2 out first crash and 3 on second crash! The other metal upgrade is bottom plate of heli! I broke first one with crash and replaced with spare that came with my heli1 Second crash broke again bottom plate!

Im am writng this to hopfully help new T-500 owners to go ahead and bit the bullet on these two upgrades. They will pay for themselves quickly! You can also replace yoour s9650 with metal gears1

Helidirect sales the metal upgrade. it is Mk9660 gears!
Micro Heli sales cnc bottom piece

The other meatal upgrades may be for bling but these 2 are MUST!!

Im an wondering how the metal base plate will hold up on a bad crash or hard landing. I know the one for the 450 is worthless in a crash.

I cant see where a bad landing would effect the base plate at all, as it would take out landing gear first! Thats what I want too happen instead of tearing out the little screws that hold landing gear to baseplate rendering the base plate usless! The plastic baseplate comes in packagecosting $16.99. A new set of landing gear cost 1/2 that!

Can say about T450 as I did crash alot but I never had to replace the stock baseplate.

I am with mmc205. You gotta have something give or the energy will get transferred somewhere else worse. So having a plastic piece here or there to act as a fuse is a good thing. Plus there is no guarantee the metal stuff will survive your next crash anyways.- Chris

Guys you missing my point so here goes. I corrected the weak link being baseplate. Instead of baseplate tearing up now it will be plastic landing gear which is cheaper to replace than plastic baseplate! The baseplate comes in a $16.99 package it doesnt come by itself. If baseplate was sold separate for say $5.00 it would be no problem. The screws are so small I think same size that fits T450 I promise you there is no energy being transformed just you ripping out bolt and tearing up a baseplate. Now energy will be transformed from metal baseplate to the landing gear.

I would not change my baseplate to metal, it gives slightly during a crash instead of tweaking up. The last crash was a nose first pile driver and even though I broke both carbon frames, the lower base plate gave a little and was ok.Still buyin' and flyin' then crashing and cryin'
