Anyone go to IRCHA?
I had to miss IRCHA this year but heard there was some good Protos stuff. Anyone have details and/or any pics of the Protos tent?

Shawn sent me his heli (at IRCHA). Corrado applied the fix with JB Weld, as well as replaced the head. Problem solved, flew perfect! Heli is on the way back to Shawn.

The fix I described can be done with epoxy or JB weld as just mentioned. Just a light coat around the top of the main shaft and a dab on top, insert into the head. Insert and tighten head screw and let cure. If you crash, there is no issue getting the main shaft out, and most likely, you will not need to apply the fix again, as the glue should still be in the head....
I will try this TEMP FIX. Putting glue on the main shaft of a heli is NOT a fix to a problem with DEFECTIVE PARTS!

I really hope a fix will be made on the manufacturing side.

If this is the way MSH fixes things ...if no new parts is made or aftermarket permanent fix is available, I might have to reconsider a heli that does not need glue on the main shaft to fly with out tracking problems!

I don't fly Planes there is no reason to use glue on a heli except for push rods maybe.

I spoke with Corrado at IRCHA. And yes, he is working on a true fix (manufacturing side). It is a head to main shaft connection problem.
The glue/epoxy fix is so you can fly the heli for now.

Did he have any new stuff on display? I would like to know if any new canopy designs and upgrades are coming.

He did have thicker, stronger fins made of the same material as the original. (He give me a set! )

He had fiberglass canopies on his helis. They aren't as stiff/strong as a TRex500 canopy, for example, but they are much stronger than the stock and they are still pretty light in weight too. Same size as the original. Same color scheme too. (Although the ones on display were red not orange. He said it was a mistake and they should have been orange. The red did look good though.)

He had new blade grips too. Superficially, the same as original. Internally, the bearing arrangement is different. The radials are now at either end of the grip with the thrust bearings in the middle. He said this arrangement gives better support and the thrust will last longer too.

Lastly, he had a modified boom clamp assembly. He eliminated the need for the tiny little washers on the belt guide pulleys. The clamp now is molded with a little "step" that replaces the washers.

And his pilot Dario was totally ripping it up all weekend. Awesome flying Dario!

Had my night Protos there, I got some time on it Friday night and a couple good flights by Dario on Saturday as well.

I think Corrado got some pictures.

Aside from the new fins and prototype grips, there are new pulley supports, which integrate a spacer, so there is no need for a washer anymore. The FG canopies were the older ones that don't have the reinforced ears, no ETA on that.

The glue (as stated) is a temporary fix to keep people in the air while a real fix is being made. It just acts as a filler as there is a tolerance issue. My CA fix finally gave out after 10-15 flights (went out of track again) and I went to the epoxy/weld, all is good again.

Forgot to mention the new reinforced tail box is on the way as well... Most should be available in mid Sept.
