I'm one of those Nitro/Electric, I love em all types. I fly my 450s in the morning to work out the nerves and shakes, fly the Logo 500 for fun and more warmup, then when those packs are toast, I fly the Synergy N9 for the rest of the day.

What's your flight time on the Logo 600? Just curious, but why did you choose Logo over the 600EP?

Have the timer set for 4 minutes right now on a 3700 mAh 10S lipo. I have some 4500 PPRC packs coming this week for it which should bump the run time up a bit. For those 4 minutes flying the logo with vbar is kind of like having a rocket on a string. I have NEVER flown anything that fast or powerful - To make things look smooth and controllable I have actually had to tame it down a little bit which is still a work in progress (my learning curve with it is pegged right now)

When you say 600EP I am not sure what you mean. If you mean TREX 600 well I have one that is being built and should have it ready to fly this weekend. It will run 6S 30C 5000 PPRC packs with a 600XL motor for now... May convert it to 8S later this year or get the 600E Super Pro when its released???

Kirk,

Man you were tearing it up with that Logo 6003D yesterday. Sure makes my 600N look soft on the power.

Great flying yesterday dude!

Thanks for an honest answer about your flight times. As soon as this time can be doubled I'll be back into electrics. I do enjoy watching you guys flying all that power.

I cannot live without both...
the 500 for the '5min fix'
the 600N for whole day flying with 26 flights...
easy enough.
10 fuel
20 start
30 fly
40 land
50 GOTO 10

xahhax said it best. There is room for both and I think we're starting to better understand the roles of each. Things will of course change over time but for now electrics for small and nitro for big.I was Spektrum when Spektrum wasn't cool

-first the clunk line fell off in flight
-now I've got glitching going on and it's cutting out for a second mid flight, arggghhh!
Be sure and tie those fuel lines to the nipples or use a fuel line clamp.

Glitching. Probably a metal to metal problem. PCM or Spektrum will fix that. Attention to detail can prevent most of that too.

Don't give up, nitro rules!!!!

JRjoe.....
Indoor plumbing??? No, we don't need that!!!

Umm...PCM will do nothing to fix glitching, it just masks it with the servos going into fail safe positions. Which can be just as costly as having the servos freak out on FM.

PCM throws out bad frames, if there is enough bad frames that causes a lock out, either case PCM or FM, the helis is going in. Whether its going in under wild control or the servos holding a preset failsafe condition is the difference. For me, I prefer under crashing control, although I'd prefer to not crash, lol.Still buyin' and flyin' then crashing and cryin'

I am goin' back to my 50 glow almost as powerful and way less liability. I had one minor tail servo failure. Bird went in and was in flames before I could get to it. Total loss and it just sucked. Crash a glow and at least most of the heli is not BBQ'ed. I like electric but the failure mode is a big minus. 50 size electrics are still only getting ~5 minutes 3d and that is good for demo flying but for general 3d practice not as good as glow either. Sure glow takes some tuning but try setting up a big electric. How many motor, gear ratio, controller options are available? Nothing really works as advertised and unless one spends hrs. on the forums and finds someone who already has tested a given setup it is trial and error. Logging and charging and testing and programming controllers can take quite a bit of time. It just has not evolved nearly as well as glow setups. Get an OS50, YS50, TT53, and if you really want to tune go for a Webra. There are others but these are the staples and can be tuned in a couple tanks. How easy is it to get an Actro motor repaired in the US? Smoke a glow and it is no big deal. I say electric for the smaller stuff but glow 50 size and up.

Thanks hyflyr

Sorry to hear about the crash n' burn, that sucks. Well, the nitro's don't catch on fire but a hard crash can take out the whole bird too. One guy at the field lost sight of his Rappy 50 and completely destroyed it, so hey, anything is possible.

for the price of them ($30) I'm packing a fire extinguisher when I fly.

As far as my 500 config I'm running pretty much the stock setup with all the metal bits I could get for it.

T-Rex 500 CF
TT
Metal Bearing Blocks, control arms, pitch arms, seesaw etc
Stock motor
Stock ESC
Stock carbon blades
15T Pinion
JR 921 2.4 Rx
Flightpower 5S 3700 475g lipo
Red canopy w/yellow lightning bolt to match it's big brother (600NSP)

Getting 10+ mins casual flying no 3D, but I'm working up to it
Helisonmymind: 450 Pro, 500ESP, 600ESP 8S, 600NSP, Quark SRB. ***Thanks RunRyder!!!***

I have been expermienting with a123 cells on a hurricane 550 i just aquired online. So far i have been very happy with them. The 7s packs are a little heavier than an equivlent lipo but man i can abuse the hell out of them. I am getting about 6minutes of aerobatics (basically the limit of what the stock motor can do) and charge for 20minutes the second i land. I have payed $125 dollars for 10cells of e-bay. I am only ussing 7 at the moment. Can't wait to get a few more packs to keep me going for longer. Really a great feeling to plug and go.

Did i mention
-no risk of fire
-some cells are almost always recoverable in a crash
-8 amp charge "IF" you have a sufficient battery to charge
-oh, and 500cycles before you even think about cells loosing life
