wow Bullseye, I don't have the problems you are having, except the battery, I just turn location service off and I use it all night at work approx 10 hrs. Location will just turn on when you need it. I did have a problem after the update, lost gps & was unable to transfer my apps. Apple had me do a reset with itunes & all came back!

Not sure about the wifi, I had a linksys & all I had to do was put in my wep password. I just picked up a new Airport Extreme yesterday & that also worked flawless!

hey
I can't get this damn thing to work on my wifi at home. I'm using a Linksys WRT54GL with the newest firmware. It'll say it's connected but when you try to go anywhere it just sits there. I've reset the router back to defaults with no encryption and it still just hangs. What a crock really. It shouldn't be this hard.
did a quick google search:

try some of these things:
Here's what Apple suggests:

If MAC Address Filtering is enabled on the wireless router, make sure your iPhone's Wi-Fi address (in Settings > General > About) is entered into the router's filter. See the documentation that came with your wireless router for additional information.

If you experience this and use a WEP Password, on the iPhone tap Settings > Wi-Fi. Then tap More Info ( > ) next to the Wi-Fi network name and tap Forget this Network. Then try accessing the Wi-Fi network again. Alternatively, turn off WEP encryption on the wireless router, although keep in mind, this solution will create a greater vulnerability to hacks or unwanted users.

connecting shouldn't be hard though....something is wrong somewhere

Thanks

Anyone download the new update 2.0.2? Have to say this was a easier update then before! Last time had to reboot to factory to fix! This time everything is working & not sure what the update was for but over 200meg of fixes! One thing I do notice is my signal at my house, I always been around 2 to 3 bars with the Iphone, BB or my wife's razer, now I am at 3 to 5 bars depending where I am (Basement or upstairs) Before someone flames AT&T signal, my daughter who is on Verizon, gets the same signal, but she only gets 1 bar in the basement and calls get dropped! My friend with Sprint no signal!

The new BlackBerry coming out like the Iphone is gonna be king, best of all it is not restricted to certain providers etc, it will be universal and better overall I think....Once upon a time there were Nitros, flybars and frequency pins...

unlikely, but we can all keep dreaming..... there most likely will be a newer iphone in a year and that one will one up every phone on the market, just like the 3g did!

I wouldn't consider the iPhone 3G exactly 1 uping the market. Considering what was added I would say slowly "catching up" with the market.

Love my phone so far. I've been surprised though at how many times I've had to power cycle it because some applications wouldn't work.

Anyone know how to make the ringer louder? It's pathetically quiet. I need something I can hear down the hall. Do I need to make my own ringtones? I can barely hear it when it goes off while in my pocket. The vibrate isn't that good either.

Still loving every minute of this thing. Battery life is limted if you're playing with it every minute of the day, but if it's just sitting there like a "normal" phone, it seems to last just fine.

Now the damn thing works with my wireless router with no problems at all. Don't know what was going on when I first tried it.

Any other apps that people enjoy? I'm always looking for the next best fun app.

Man, if they had tethering available with the iPhone I would be all over it. I know someone had a tethering hack at one point, but an update killed it

Yeah they used to have it available at http://www.nullriver.com/ but I think ATT killed it off. The last update on their site was August 4th.

Yeah Jim it would be nice to tether, but on the other hand I have not had the need to do it. When I travel, I have found that the Iphone has been excellent on filling the void between the laptop & I just link up at a hotel if I do need a laptop. My last trip out I just left the laptop home!

Last Friday was the first time I had two dropped calls & was unable to get a good signal on 3G, But Sat no problems ( I even was able to get Edge out at Little Sahara Sand dunes!), wonder if they had a tower go down?

Could Pandora work for I touch or does the touch even have capability for a radio?

I have spent a little time getting my touch working. I use it mostlly for lifting and running. My friend at work dumped a 132 gigs on my external. I filtered it way down to a couple gigs..lol. I have a lot of deleting of music I would never listen too.

I upgraded to the latest software and paid the 10.00 to basically to a legal jail break. Very happy with the remote app. Anywhere in the house a remote for my stereo. The brain game is fun to do before bed.

Put Iron man on the touch for travel with the 10 year old. We dont own any dvd players for trips and he seems to not mind the slightly smaller screen. 1.7 gigs though for the movie using videora with only a 16gig with any movies it seems on the limit for having much of a selection on the touch, but I guess thats what I tunes is for. Divix compression would be a nice 'touch'.
