How do you hold your radio?
Some people hold their radio with the thumbs on top of the control sticks and some hold the control sticks with their thumbs and fore fingers. I do the later....and seem to have better control that way.

Is there a particular reason to hold it one way or the other? Is it just personal preference?

Thumbs for me and I use a tray.

Seems un-natural any other way.

Thumbs up!
I hold mine with just my thumbs on the ends. I seem to be able to react a little faster that way. It seems like it would work better for 3D manuvers as well (not tried yet). For me, my index fingers would just get in the way.

I also use a neckstrap to hold my Tx in place

thumbs or pinch
It is a matter of what feels right, there are alot of people flying both ways for different reasons.I prefer thumbs with thumbs it takes a light thumb to let the stick go back to netrual and to keep from creeping into other cyclic controls when moving the sticks.Try a little expo it will help with centering and not creeping
Fly it ! Crash it ! Rebuild it ! Repeat as needed !! Everett

Pinch
I do the thumb-index pinch.

No real reason, I just learned this way. And it was a good 32 years ago, too, so it might be a tough habit to break.

When I read about it on the forums, I do get curious about the other holding method, but for some reason never seem to remember to try it when flying (now THAT is odd).

How do you hold your radio?
With both hands while I'm flying and with one hand, the left one, when I'm walking the heli to the field.

Ignore the guys who like to jump on the new guys for asking an oft-repeated question.

I myself pinch and use a transmitter strap to hold the transmitter. Some pinchers use a tray... I want to try one myself as it holds the transmitter steadier.

Some also hold the tx with their hands and just use the tips of their thumbs. I've tried both but I've stuck with the pinch method.
