Its a hyper 50. It wasn't running lean. It looks like the top of the piston just tore! I am looking for a flash card now to take a few pictures. I have my spare motor about ready to go into it while i get to the bottom of this one. I will somehow try to send the picture so you can see what I am seeing!

do you think it was running to ritch or was the tail doing anything wierd like jumping? what were you doing when this happened? if the tail starts to jump ocasionaly that will be an indication or pinging or missing caused by a lean or ritch condition.

No, I hadn't touched the carb settings, she put out plenty of smoke and oil! good thing i picked up that spare motor for 78 bucks. It was like brand new! I have it in the heli already and just need to finish putting it all together and then get the handy dandy book out and see how to run it!

Odam.
Glad to hear you had a great day at the field!
Also nice to have the guys who know how help out too!!!
I just love how this 50 sized heli fly's. Makes ya wonder what the difference is in the 90 sized!!! No plans for that yet, I see the motors are twice as big, that means twice as much nitro!
Maybe a gasser!!
I have done some reading and found lots of reasons i put a hole in my piston, just can't figure out what caused it yet, except maybe a loose exhaust. It wasn't too loose but loose enough! No gasket of any kind either, maybe it doesn't need it, I don't know!

My spare is not a hyper, the only difference is in the head fins, i guess, all the parts internally are the same! I don't remember exactly but i think it only had a gallon of fuel through it.

It looks like a little kid signed it....

oh wait, he is a little kid

Awesome, friends are great eh?

I love watching Justin fly, he's truly amazing....

Sonny, how goes? Whats the new engine your putting in the 600? What engine does the Raptor have? Got enough helicopters yet? he he The more you have, the more expensive it is to keep em flying...

I'm gonna be selling my little mCX (rtf)... and my Vapor, (bnf) if anyone is interested before I post em... Willing to trade, not sure for what....

Engine is in the Trex600n is a regular os50 and the raptor has one also. Only the raptor has a larger carb on it. I have the os50 hyper all tore apart, and yep it burnt the piston alright just like those on the other forum!!! I think i am getting away with just the piston. The little chunk that came off the piston was ground to silica sand thats all i found in the bottom of the motor. The stuff was very very fine. Like the oil crystallized!
There sure isn't much to these motors is there?

After the couple beautiful days we've had for flying, I have no interest in going out in the wind and snow... he he I've been getting in extra sim time... I find the Raptor 50 I have in realflight flies almost exactly like the real thing...

This weekend is looking like awesome weather, low winds, lots of sun... not cold, but not overly warm either... Should be three days of flying, maybe go through my 3.5 gallons of fuel

Been working on the polaris all evening. My 600 is just waiting for the wind to die down! And a muffler gasket on the nitro. Hopefully tomorrow it will be a good flying day!
