Sonny, any chance you have a bad radio? or something causing interference, maybe its that nuclear plant... he he
Some things I've heard might cause interference, wireless network, wireless phones, high tension wires... just grasping at straws here, but you've had problems with different receivers/servos/helis right? nothing there in common?

I managed to fly this morning before the wind got too bad. I was out at 7:30 and flew 4 packs. It was pretty windy then, but didn't stop me from practicing my flips. It made rolls pretty hard though. I even tried inverted hovering about 40 feet up, but it was just too windy. My new paint scheme saved me two, maybe three times when I lost orientation, but because I saw all yellow, I knew it was sideways with the rotors toward me (I was looking at the top of the heli) so I was able to correct properly. If I had not changed my paint scheme, I would almost certainly have crashed.

I just went out to fly again but its too windy All week it was calm and perfect flying weather, and naturally, come the weekend, its windy. On top of that, were getting another dump of snow starting this evening

Odam we are still getting the snow!! I did get a chance to fly in the gym but it was ugly. I thought i was bringing back towards me and it was still moving away!! I hit the wall! I dont think i have my radio set right. Beats me. It was very unforgiving. Too touchy i thought.
The other one still bugs the heck out of me. I'll try swaping the esc

I'm all set to head back to the gym in tuesday night. I can;t wait to try out my new ParkZone Vapor. I still haven;t had a chance to try it yet, its still in the box.

I'll also be taking my Blade CP Pro back, I decided to work on it tonight, since last week when I flew it, it was vibrating and wobbly, and just plain hard to control, it was embarassing, so I just put it away, he he... Well, first off I noticed the main gear was out of round, that caused the wobble, so I replaced it, now it runs nice and smooth. I weighed the plastic blades, and there was a gram difference between them cause I had tape on one blade trying to fix the wobble. Anyhow, dug out a good pair of woodies and weighed and balanced them. Put them on and she spins up nice and smooth now. As I was doing this, I glanced up at my pegboards, and noticed my shiny new eSky EK2-0508 digital servos hanging on the wall, and decided to go digital. I pulled out the eFlite servos, put these in, and replaced the eSky HH gyro with my G110 from the Blade 400.

I don't have anywhere in the house with room to fly it, so I took it into the bedroom, set it on the bed, and brought it up to a hover. WOW, it was as stable as the Blade 400! I can't wait to see how it holds up at the gym, I should be able to do some nose in hovering with it.

I was practicing backward flight in the gym last week. I was hovering nose in, and would back away about 20 feet, then fly forward back to me. Thats about all the room I had. It's harder than the sim, and I wasn't even trying to turn or anything. I was mostly worried about crashing in front of everyone, didn't want to do that.

Odam,

Do you use any special settings in your radio? Like expo or anything to make your 400 a little more forgiving?

hey sonny I think you bound the rx wrong, when you bind it you want the throttle stick all the way down and everything else centered. That set's up the safe mode to keep it from flying off when you first plug it in or incase you plug the heli in before turning on the TX....

Hey what did you mean about putting the fuselage together??? I remembered you mentioned something about your fuselage just can't remember what you said

Oh yeah I forgot, I saw the coolest thing today... It was an American bold eagle!!! I can't believe how beautiful those things are!!! My brother and I were hanging out at the impound and the eagle just came out of nowhere and landed on a tree right over us. well I was able to take some pic's of it with my brothers cellphone and we also just happened to have some vinoculars in the tow truck so I was just looking at it for about 20 minutes. Boy I can't believe how beautiful it was!!!

hay oh-6 its funny you mentioned the eagle there were sevral of them at the flying field i was at today just flying around while we were flying the helis. it was so cool to see one actually flying free. and not in a cage there must be some nests down there somewhere in the park there were like 4 of them flying around my girlfriend was running around trying to take pictures and vider of them so she was buisy lol.
hay oh-6 have you flown the 600 yet like you said it was verry impressive to see fly. we only had one problem being that i have futaba 9451 digital servos in it with the gyro on the plastic plate above the servos when we started working on it the tail servo was wigging back and fourth. cause was the gyro mounted above the digital servos. guess the gy401 is bad for interfearance from digital servos so we put a small stainless plate underneath the gyro and it was all good.

Hey GMPCOBRA, congrats on the 600. I know that my Raptor 30 is so much more stable and forgiving than my Blade 400, the difference is like night and day. The 600 is a bit bigger than the Raptor 30, should be lots of fun

Sonny, I actually have negative expo set on mine, it makes it MORE sensitive around mid stick. When I first learned to fly, it was on the Blade CP Pro, which is notoriously a very twitchy and sensitive CP heli. When I got the 400, I initially had my expo for elevator and aileron set to -35%, but I've since changed to to -15% as I got used to it. I know a lot of people add positive expo to calm it down, but I always liked the quicker response.

You can add weights to the flybar to calm a heli down too.

Hey Thanks Odam. I don't think i have any expo set right now. I have some repair to do and then I'll check it out again. I just need to get it fixed right and fly it to see where the problems are and make adjustments. For awhile yesterday, I had it hovering dead still, then it started to wander away and with my sugar and eyesight i thought it was coming backwards but it was inching forward. These gym walls are all painted like a jungle or something. Maybe that had something to do with it, I dont know!!. I guess I'm still paying my dues!!!

OH-6

I had the throttle stick all the way down when i bound it.

The plastic fuselage has these little overlaps. I am just wondering if you glued any balsa wood tabs in it to hold it together so you could take it apart when needed. I wonder what would happen if i poured some fiberglass resin in it to make it stronger. Its just flimsy plastic!

Speaking of Eagles!!!
Up here in the frigid state of Michigan. When all the lakes are rivers freeze over, the eagles have to travel to find some open water to fish in. Well here in Holland at the power plant, the water on Lake Macatawa that runs into Lake Michigan, is open near the plant so Eagles come from miles around to fish! Its amazing! I think one day a couple of years ago I counted 30 of them.
There were a bunch of younger ones. They have to be about 5 years old before they are adults and their heads turn white. They are just beautiful creatures. I never saw one in the wild until about 5 years ago at my moms house. She lives on a lake and every morning one would come by and swoop up a fish off the beach or something. It landed in a tree about 30 feet away from her window and we were just amazed at it. Now if I could make these helicopters fly as majestically as those!!

Hey Sonny, it was snowing pretty good here this morning too. in fact, I came home from flying cause it was getting hard to see the helicopter.

Watch at YouTube

The CP Pro headspeed was a little low, hence you see the tail bobbing a bit. I did increase the headspeed, and it flew better. I'll get more video of it on Tuesday at the gym. When I finished flying the CP Pro this morning, I accidentally dropped my DX7, and when I got home, I noticed the flap/gyro switch was bent. I pulled it apart, and couldn;t straighten it without breaking the switch (ok, I ended up breaking the switch!) so I gathered my other radios around me. I took the identical switch out of my DX6i and replaced the broken one in the DX7 with it. Then I took a toggle switch out of my old HobbyZone SuperCub RTF radio and put it in the DX6i. When I put the DX7 back together, it wouldn't switch on. What a sinking feeling... Its only a month old and I've already screwed it up... I noticed buried under a circuit board, a fuse. When I pulled the fuse out, it was burnt out. Whew... I guess when I was plugging the battery back in after putting it together, I had it backwards, and the design of the connector is that it won't seat properly, but it does make contact, so that blew the fuse. Off to the store, picked up a couple fuses, and then took a red and black marker and marked the polarity of the connector so I won't make the same mistake again.

All is well once again, and the wind is supposed to die down this aft, and the snow has already stopped, and the batteries are all recharged, so I'm just waiting to go fly again...

Hope y'all are getting some too!

hey cobra nope I still haven't I had it all set up before(with really crappy servos) just needed the battery but I took off the RX and one of the servo's to get the airwolf to work with the landing gears and such. But I already found an ar7000 for $60 and also paid for some 9252's already. so I'm back to where I started needing a battery but atleast now I have a really nice set up!!

That's awesome by the way, I was impressed just to see one of them now to see a lot at the same time, now that would be an experience!! Hey sonny I had never seen one before also, it was really really beautiful though I wish it had been a little older though I think it was still a little baby.

thanks for the tip about the digital servos and the 401 cobra I might have to do the same to mine if it starts acting up!!

Hey sonny can you take a picture of what your talking about I can't seem to grasp what you're talking about??

hehe odam I bet it sucked when it wouldn't turn on huh! I noticed that my dx7 had a rattle inside but it was weird because one momment it was rattling and the next it would stop so one day it started making that anoying noise so I opened it up without turning it over or moving it too much. Guess what was making the noise.... there was an extra bind button inside just floating around in the case Well if I ever break the one on the back I'll have a spare

Eagles come from miles around to fish!
We have seen Bald Eagles about 5 times this winter.

They fly right by our condo. Click on my homepage to see the view through our web cam.

Sonny, I have Xero lights on my TREX450 and EP200.
eyesight i thought it was coming backwards but it was inching forward. These gym walls are all painted like a jungle or something
It's WAY easier to see now. Even in day light.

I hear you can get the EXACT same lights in automotive at WalMart.

$15 a foot. You just solder and plug in. NO DRIVER NEEDED!!

I run mine on 7.4 Volts. Plenty bright. They're LED. They draw very little current.
