Dave you are doing a fantastic job!!

Friendship... is not something you learn in school. But if you haven't learned the meaning of friendship, you really haven't learned anything.

Richard, thanks. I really like the look of the metal but I think I'm going to like the look of the paint over it better. That's when the fun of the stencils and weathering start. That's the part I've been most looking forward to but it's just an insane amount of work to get to that point.

Boyd, I hope so. Hopefully Dr. Tim will be able to come up with something useful from the stuff I sent him. It sure would be nice to have a Whiskey model available that doesn't cost more than two grand.

Thanks Patsy!

Thanks Slider. You have the same talent. You just built the same thing, you just decided you were going to call yours finished before mine. Did you ever fly it?

Your attention to detail is much better than mine, but thanks just the same. I did try to get it off the ground but I'm having problems with the engine at lift off. I won't get in to details it your thread. Your doing a great job.

Whatever became of the AH-1W conversion kit ? Mabey Vac forming the parts would be a simpler method.

There is progress on the "W" , working on a retrofit for the E-Cobra and 60 Cobra ... I'm simply REAL SLOW when it comes to Autocad and Solidworks! REAL SLOW!!!

absolutely stunning work so far dblum. any more progress?

Doc Tim, how much fatter did you make the kit compared to dblum's? Do you have any photos of a finished whiskey cobra? I'm thinking this might be my next project.

Thanks spiderco! absolutely no progress in a while, too many other things keeping me busy.

As far as I know Dr. Tim didn't widen it at all from my original. I do believe he dropped the mechanics slightly so that you wouldn't have to modify the Swift frame to turn the tail drive upside down. I didn't want to comprimise the scale height of the doghouse, but on the kit I think it only results in a slightly lower head height.

You are correct Dave, There are a few small mods but nothing that would detract from the overall model. there are photo's up on the Starwood site. Click on the model and go to album.

Can't wait to see your final outcome , Dave. I picked a ARTF Swift 16 and will soon pick up the kit from Starwood and will post when I get there, I am excited and have been waiting awhile to get a Whiskey Cobra kit ( that's affordable )

Well it's been a while since I updated anything here, but I am making slow progress. I finished most of the panels and rivets and shot some primer on it. I'm very pleased with the results even though it was a lot of work doing the panel lines this way. I've also started on the ordinance making pretty good progress on the TOW launchers and tubes. A couple of rocket pods on the inboard stations and Hellfires on the other outboard will complete the loadout. Please ignore the crappy chaff dispensers as they are just mock-ups. I think I've finally settled on a paint scheme also.

Thanks Tim! I'm off to the 12 hours of Sebring on Tuesday so that will give me something to do when I get back.
