It really is very sad that companies continue to make beta testers out of their end users.

TT is not the only offender in this regard. In the heli community it's all to common.

Common enough where I won't buy a product if it has just come to market. I don't spend my hard earned cash to solve design problems that should have been taken care of in the testing phase of R&D.

Disappointing.

Hey Jean-Luc, how was the trip to IRCHA?
Pat It was memorable. I had a great time and managed to get 16 flights.
Thank god Max had a golf cart to wheel me around, as the flight line was so long and too many things to see. Plan to come next year, it's the schnizzle !

Life is meaningful flying helis.

I sent mine back, 60 flights and I've never seen bearings rusted so badly. They better not say "no fault found"! We will see but either way this will very likely be the last TT motor I purchase.
One month later and still no replacement received back from Ace, three e-mails sent with one response that it would be shipped back to me over two weeks ago.

Maybe this is how there is a 3 year warranty, they keep your engine so painfully long that it will be the last time you send it in to them for repair.

Ouch!! I know the OS's aren't always the best either, but at least they quickly replace them! ~Team Collective Mayhem - "My anger management class really PISSES ME OFF!"

That is disappointing for sure. Personally I would keep following up with a phone call. I have to do this with Assurance RC, unfortunately._Sam B_

Finally got the engine back today, they replaced the bearings, sleeve, ring and put a new carb assembley on there. Hopefully with the new carb my issues with the sticky throttle are resolved. We will see tomorrow if the weather is good.

Great to hear about getting the new engine and carb. Again, as I mentioned earlier, if you do find that the carb wants to stick a little, move the servo rod and ball link to the left side of the throttle instead of the right. You will find it is much smoother and it will not stick any more.

I have a push-pull setup, are you saying to mount one side on the outside for the ball links and the other on the inside?

O.k., let me get some pics for you guys. Basically though, all I had to do to stop the sticking was move the ball from the outer right side of the throttle arm on the carb to the outer left side of the carb on the throttle arm. Then flip your servo arm on the servo all the way around so the ball on the servo arm is also on the left and then reverse your throttle servo on your radio and check for any binding and afjust travel as necessary on the radio and re-setup your governor if adjustments on the radio needed to be made for travel and/or binding. For some reason on the Redline .53 it likes the ball on the left side of the throttle arm. It might have something to do with the fact the screw and the groove in the throttle bottle on the carb are closest to that side.

Also, my servo ball is on the inside on the servo arm and my ball on the throttle on the motor is on the outside.

TT Redline is pure junk
This will not advance this thread any but hell I'm pissed. This engine is pure crapola. I've had lean spots and sticky carb issues. The thing quit on me in flight 2 seperate times. There, I feel a little better.

Tplummer, sorry about your experience.
Hey man, sorry about your experience thus far, but I want to share some thoughts with you. The engine itself I have had very good luck with and it runs very strong and well. But, and this is what I wanted to share with you, I did have some similar issues as you stated until I replaced the rear bearing. I was loosing power and the whole heli seemed to be a little noisy. In other words, it wasn't real obvious that it was completely going out yet. You will normally hear a little swoosh sound when it is idleing that kind of comes and goes, you will also notice power loss. Depending on your fuel as well I ended up leaning up the low end about a 1/4 turn and my top needle is about 1 3/4 turns out. It should sit and idle as long as you want it to without stalling. Also, you should be able to give it throttle on take-off without it sounding like it might stall out or sputter. It should be a smooth, strong transition.

If you hear any "swooshing" sound when it is idleing the rear bearing is going to need to be replaced. Just for everyones own information the OS 50 Hyper bearing is the exact same size, so if you have trouble finding the TT 53 bearing just use the OS, that's what I am running right now in it and it runs fantastic. I got about 12 gallons through the original bearing before I needed to replace it.

Also, guys, I am running an OS A3 plug in this motor. I have found it likes to have a hotter plug. I would not run a #8 in this engine. For those of you that are, try an A3 and see the difference yourself. TPlummer, if you haven't replaced the glow, replace it with the A3 and tell me if that alone takes your problems away if it is not the rear bearing.

I got the new carb assembley when I sent mine in, I can't say it has 100% reduced the sticky carb but I haven't had to remove it yet.

I finally have this engine running well, at the field the other day it took everything I could throw at it with NO bog! Side to side tictocs which I feel are one of the best to show how an engine is runnning were awesome.

I can't simply compliment this engine though, seeing as I've had it for months now and it's finally working ok speaks for itself. Hands down TT is the most difficult engine to break in that I have ever experienced, same with finally finding that "sweet spot".

Mine almost made it into the trash many times but now I'm glad I stuck with that POS!

Just felt the urge to comment as well....My Redline has been awesome since break-in all the way up to now...23 gallons\258 tanks of fuel burned...yes I really am keeping track, it's like a mission now to see how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie pop.

I know...kinda cheezy, but me and my buddy are keeping track to see how many flights I get before I have my 1st carb or bearing issue.

TT really made a top-notch engine this time!
