Wow,
I just got back from a flight without my stabilizers.

Not too bad,
I've progressed a lot.

But
the main thing I noticed,
it is like flying in slow motion.

With the stabilizers the heli flies much faster,
much faster.

That is not necessarily such a good thing for beginners.

O.K. Now I'm confused HR--- First you say your invention is designed to help out beginners-- Now it flies Faster with the Mod but yet it flies like its in slow motion

Noooooo,
today I flew without the mod,
and it was like slow motion.

I have been flying with this mod for two weeks,
and when I started,
I wasn't doing anything all that brave,
so I didn't notice how fast it was.

So even though it makes flight smoother and easier,
it also makes it faster (which is not necessarily so good for newbies),
but I think that the easiness trumps the speed,
so it will still be a good thing.

I will have a comparative video up as soon as I can get to the field with a cameraman.

I have two batteries now (although they aren't the same).
I think I will buy another battery next week that is identical to the one I already have.

Then it will be a more fair comparison.

I plan to film the entire flight so that you get an idea of the extended flight time,
I see it,
but I know others will want proof.

Hat-Cam
I tested out a home-made hatcam at the soccer complex today. I felt kind of silly with a cam on my brim, but it worked pretty well. Little sideways, though.

Thanks. Today was one of those rare days when I felt like the only way I would crash was if I went kamikaze. I had a few "moments", but recovery came quickly and naturally.

Was it the SIM PRACTICE kicking in? Nah. Those overpriced video games are worthless...

Almost got the nerve to try a flip or loop, now I just need a good gyro. The Telebee is great for this stuff, but I don't want to push it too hard.

I put 3 packs through the Super FP this evening. I had some spectators watching me for the 3 flights.. a couple of guys that came out to fly a Sig Kadet EP-42B airplane (http://www.sigmfg.com/IndexText/SIGRC104ARF.html). One of the guys was a total RC newbie...the Kadet was his first airplane. The other guy, who has been flying planks for 25 years, was along to help out the newbie.

The experienced guy said that he didn't know a little fixed pitch heli could fly the way I was flying it . He also said that we heli pilots are a different breed . Anyway, it was alot of fun talking with those two guys. I did get to see the Kadet in action and that is a very SWEET electric airplane! I may have consider the Kadet for myself in the future.

Also, nice flying shizack!

Nice shiz I need to practice or maybe get a sim?

Racin get a slow stick you'll be amazed you dont know what to do with the extra time while flying? It just hangs there. I crashed mine and havent fixed it yet I was flying in an area too small between trees and powerlines I forget that its 3 channel and you turn with the rudder and the rudder is on the right stick. Thats when the wind got it and I sat it down ever so lightly in a tree no damage. the damaged was the 30ft fall when I shook it out of the tree.

kit wit motor $35 I used my lama radio.

And how. I paid my dues on a HBCP2. Talk about squirrelly! If some of these TREX/550/MT-only having snobs had worked their way up through the heli food chain, they'd know what is and ISN'T a POS.

Then they could truly appreciate something like the King or a good 450.

I can only imagine how tough it was to fly these things before computer radios and gyros.

I flew today,
testing shark fin shapes for my dynamic stabilizer.

They worked allright they were too big though,
I couldn't even piro (will have the video up soon).

So I took them off and took the opportunity to get some good video of standard flight.

I am still not quite used to the HH gyro,
between that and my heli needing re-setup I had some control issues that weren't obvious until the O-$#it moments.

Here's some video of it.

Watch at YouTube

You may have noticed that the heli flew right through were I WAS standing.

It was a poorly planned maneuver,
I was doing a circle,
when I realized that I was headed for a pole,
then I turned and it was heading for my head.

I couldn't move,
because I knew if I moved while trying to save it,
I would crash,
so I waited till the last possible second.

Hehe..."Do that again".

Too much cyclic and/or too little rudder.
Lead your turns with the rudder. Slowly at first. It feels unnatural to begin with, but I'll bet you'll find your turns getting smoother and flatter. Use cyclic to either tighten or widen the turn.

Did I hear someone utter a profanity?

SHAME!!!
