I've cleared 26" so far and it's still going. I don't care what the weatherman says how many inches, I'm going by what's blown into my driveway!

ooops, it was private view only. Fixed now.

After clearing out what I think was 30"+ of snow I wonder how a 250 would handle falling inverted into the snow? Could I get it to hit the snow and completely dissapear? Or would I have to fly full speed into the snow to do that?

You brought back some good memories for me Melnic, several years ago I spent an entire summer flying a thing called the "IFO" (indoor flying object) Hobby Lobby used to sell em, just carbon fiber rods and celaphane covering, the thing was freakin Fun, elevon mixing, could do like a 2 foot loop

I think you need to be inverted, hit snow and give full positive pitch to blades. Then it will disappear. Not sure it will disappear in snow, but blades may disappear for sure. You'll need a new set.

Not sure I will ever get the garage done! Its finished on the outside to keep the complaints down. I am too busy with the toys it was 38 in the garage but the 4 stroke Saito 100 fired up pretty good.

And yes greg its mine and you should always keep your posts covered.

Holds the plane for you so you can go full throttle not a bad Idea.

P-47!
That rocks!
I love that plane but have never had one.
Get the first flights on vid!

Retracts? Mechanical or Air?

I was moving that VTO foamie from the field shelter to the car and droped it and a control horn came out of the foam. I'll need to re-epoxy it.

BTW, this was a $0 build. EVErYTHING I had was already in my house including the polystyrene sheet which was left overs from insulating hte attic. After trying to fly it inverted on flight #2, I need to keep the push rods from flexing. They are aluminum I think and flex like federal senitor.

That's a very cool engine. Is this your first 4 stroke in a model? How is the crank case lubed? Is there an oil pump somehwere?

Cool Melnic 0$ build thats more thrifty than dougie-boy.

I always loved the P-47 myself I liked the razorback even better but I bought this kit from a guy $100 off.

Mechanical retracts Melnic using the hitec retract servo.

As for the four stroke greg showing a lot of interest there. its actually a motor I already had but grew tired of the plane it was in an edge 540 And I got the big gasser extra 260 so the little aerobatic edge 540 was gutted for the P-47. You may know I like scale stuff.

As for the oil I am not really sure greg the valves are driven by a gear system on the crank in front of the cylinder head. And It gets oil they have a crankcase overflow to spit out the oil. It uses nitro with oil blends like anything else but a little more oil than a 2 stroke. they even reccomend 30% heli fuel.

Yea, no oil resevoir in that, just nitro.
4 strokes sound cool but don't have power to weight ratio of the 2 strokes. But of course, fuel consumption is more efficient. Many people go 4 stroke for the deeper sound and low end torque (I think they have better low end torque).

Rebuilding is more complicated cause you have valve rod spacing and timing gear to contend with.

Make sure you have the mechanical retract wires good and consistant. I'm not sure but I think mine was not in my spitfire which caused my battery to prematurely fail and down the aircraft last fall.

I am gonna have someone check out the retracts for me this is my first plane with retracts. I know I have had it sitting with the radio on wheels up and down both for 20 minutes and cycled the retracts 15-20 times on the 6V battery. Kind of raking it over the coals before I fly it. I am not a big retract fan just adds more headache. But you just cant do a low pass with a warbird wheels hanging down.

Oh and if you need a pilot for your next plane? I just started searching the word pilot in all my bookmarked websites. And Hobbyking our heli and zippy battery friends has them great looking scale pilots I was totally amazed. It was $5 they are $20+ for the same thing elsewhere.

thats a beauty shame its electric.

Did you use the 50 boom or the titan boom with 620mm blades?

I am working on a project similar but a little easier. My 30 is Now stretched to the titan 50 with a OS hyper50 Its a little longer than the standard TT 50. Can use up to 620mm blades. Just got it slapped together to try it out.

I just used a 50 boom,
I checked the clearance and even if I were to get deflection enough to have a boom strike I would still clear the tail blades.

What is the white stuff coming out the back in your video? Did your Lipo catch fire?
