After replacing the blade grips and setting 0 pitch at 50%, it flies quite nicely; it's quite windy here this morning and I didn't even crash!!

On the plus side the R30 is running better, not perfect but better. It starts off a little rich but leans out at about 1/2 tank to run nice and strong. I am still worried about it over revving though as it is screams with zero pitch in forward flight!!!
1/2 tank runs better of course they all do little less fuel getting to the carb and the engine is finally warm.

Do yourself a favor when that 15% is gone get a gallon of 30% the window of perfect tuning is wider from rich to lean just set it rich and go. I honestly am confused how you guy's at altitudes higher than most can even get 15% heli (planes can burn any crap) to tune.

R30 autos are so awesome!!!!

I to was doing auto's yesterday in the gusty wind I have worked my way up to 30ft. I am testing my equipment the 6EX throttle hold reverts back to normal pitch settings so I have my R30 set to -4/+10 in normal. TJ dont pussy foot it around bring it down extra hard then the last 4-5ft it will still have plenty of momentum to hover. Unlike the TREX you have that 4-5ft cushion for 5-10seconds as long as you bring her in fast. Even full collective wont instantly kill it.

Well its 7:30am and my starter battery just finished charging and my jeep is still loaded from yesterday so its time to head out.

Yes the R30 will auto but it is a much different ball game here compared to where you are. I only have about half the air you do and that seriously limits my lift. For example if I hover the R30 about 3ft up, grab th.hold and just leave the throttle in place, the R30 will loose all lift in about 1sec. It drops pretty hard actually. If I get the chance I will do a video to help show you just how little air is up here.

So my plan is to learn to do proper autos, those with forward motion from high up and 45* trajectories. But it is going to take a little more flying before I try one.

I had an awesome time flying today! Sunny...55F...a little windy with gusts up to 12 mph, but manageable. I flew a total of 15 flights on my helis and airplane. Below is the order of my flying.

Flight 1 - Sukhoi
Flight 2 - HBK2
Flight 3 - Super FP
Flight 4 - Stock HBFP
Flight 5 - Sukhoi
Flight 6 - Super FP
Flight 7 - Super FP
Flight 8 - Sukhoi
Flight 9 - HBK2
Flight 10 - Stock HBFP
Flight 11 - Stock HBFP
Flight 12 - Super FP
Flight 13 - HBK2
Flight 14 - Sukhoi
Flight 15 - Sukhoi

IMO, mixing up the flights by flying different aircraft is beneficial to my overall flying skills. Each aircraft has it's own individual flight characteristics...add in some wind and you receive some very good flight training. It won't be long and I'll be adding my Mini Titan to the mix, as well . Do you guys fly different helis/airplanes at the flying field? What are your thoughts on the benefits to your overall flying skills?

By the way, I now own 22 lipos...when does the madness end!

WOW 22 lipos thats crazy.

I only got 7 and 2 gallons of fuel.

I find flying plane first relaxes me when I fire up a heli so I actually find myself doing more. I flew 3 flights on the trainer today and after that I pretty much just went for it with the heli a full power pirouetting takeoff and flips I usually save that for the second flight. But I still find myself leaving skid marks in the sky. Yeah my left thumb tends to want to add rudder. And that makes for a sloppy looking turn when added to a elevator aileron turn past a 45 degree angle.

See now I am heli guy through and through. Flying planes makes me all uneasy and such. Then when I get my hands on a heli again all is right as rain

Had a pretty decent day at the field,

Forecast had it at 59* and 7 mph wind,
The field is just now seeing that.

Was 40* and gusty while I was still there.

The Guy who wants a heli (and impending Runryder member) was there flying his planes.

I only have a small memory card so I only got one short video,
self cammed so its crappy and I edited it.

Watch at YouTube

Flew several times on both the big and little birds.
The video was my first flight,
What was I thinking?

Thanks again to all of you who pushed me into the 10s!
Love being able to charge at the field!

Thanks!

Hopefully I will be doing some more interesting stuff before too long.

2 batteries on the way for the big bird,
and I should start having some pretty awesome flying days.

I'm totally at ease with any size plane I fly. They relax me. It's good to break up the heli flying especially when I'm working on something new. That's whey the Sukhoi intrigued me. It's so rugged how can you help but be relaxed to fly it?

I'm sorry to say that I have more Lipos so res assured your not the craziest. Plus the Nitro, Plus the 2 cycle gas fuel.

The maddness ends when you run out of money!

Good flight HR. Loop that puppy!

I almost got the urge,
But I am not bending rules on the Raptor.

One of my top rules
Don't get any bright ideas (always have an idea of what you are going to do well before you do it).

But I am getting more and more comfortable,
and the fact that it is so stable and smooth,
I will have her looping in a month.

Crazy wind up here in MA, so not a lot of flying this weekend.
This afternoon I had had enough and went and flew 2 packs through the Raptor E550 despite the wind.

Nearly picture perfect here. No wind, no clouds, temp in the mid 60s.

Spend the early afternoon at the mall two of my daughters. But just took Frank out front for a spin. It went so well, I'm eying the HBFP.

I dunno... maybe just a hover...
