Here we all sit with our broken 500's.Ground this, metal that, and static build up.. WTF .... Where is Jason Kraus and Alan Szabo Jr..?? Are they having the kind of trouble all the rest of us are having??????????????????????????????????? This is becoming ridiculous!!!! A couple of us flew today and below is the post on that,if you care. Short story, both of us had a lock out back to back.I saved mine, the other was not so lucky. I MEAN COMPLETE LOCK OUT...That lasted forever but more like 2 seconds. That is long enough for the birds to find mother earth.
Has any one talked to Jason or alan on these problems? I would like to hear something on this issue!
Could it be the be the belt? I have seen post's with people that have changed speed controllers, motors, servos, and every configuration possible. The belt is one of the few things that is a constant.Hell, I am ready to fly this truly fun to fly helli, with out worrying about lock out's!!

Jason and Alan are too busy counting all the money they are making of parts. They probably get something for every heli and part sold.

I would be willing to try a new type belt. Does any one know where I can find one. I really think the belt is the problem. May be I am wrong, but what else is there.

I've had mine for a few weeks and absolutely no lockout issues, I'm using a Futaba 149DP RX and a Futaba 12Z TX and not a single glitch or lockout. I probably only have 30 or so flights on it, but I have not experienced any problems at all.

I hope you get all your issues figured out!

That is just it. Some people are not having any problems. The rest of us have to wonder how to land... in control or just watch it fall

I put 4 flights on mine today. 3 after the lock out. the only thing we did is hose the belt down with silicone. This can not be the final fix to our problem, can it. Do you know how hard it is to go back up after a bad lock out?

These are my heli's:
sceadu
freya
raptor 90se
trex 450
trex 500
trex 600n
the 500 is the only one with the problem. 5 out of 6 have belts. Go figure that one out.
I seem to be on a rant tonight.

You guys from Texas always looking for the smoking gun. Maybe you can find JK, and Szabo at the school book depository with there 2.4G spread spectrum TX. and their cell phones calling assurancs RC for a parts count. All you need to do is spray your belt with some anti-static lotion and keep the faith. If you don't have a lot of faith I suggest a small heli pin coushion, a dead chicken and a picture of JK or Szabo. 96 flights 2 rex 500 and still going. 72mhz, revolution and Deans antennas, No belt lub, 2 aftermarket ESC's By the way who shot JR.and did he have lotion on his belt?? Keep flying the 2.4 and bring a bag, if not for the heli for the the chicken they get pretty ripe in that warm weather.

about the stupid lock out, i had 2 lock out with my 500. and later on i found out is not lock out, is bacuse the weight on the wire from ESC to RECEIVER the piece to lead, or IRON which should be used to prevent lock out. yeah that thing, is a lot of weight for the little wire, and when we fly hard, that thing move around, and slowly pull the wire out from the receiver, and most time is not all the way, but enough to disconnect for second, then u have no control and the heli is not moving, since is not moving it connect again, so u got some kind of control so u may be able to land it. and power is back out. but some time is enough time to crash it, then we start blam on the LOCK OUT, which is not true. now i move the weight away, and never have a problem, and all my friend have no lock out issue, cause i told them this right after i had the problem. and this whould be the only problem. 100+ flight no problem at all. first time is a "LOCK OUT" second time i crashed. then i found out this, after that never an issue. 30 flight after the quick fix.

Fly the way i want => IRON NUT

it does seem like its only the 2.4 guys complaining about lockouts, however. although i havent read all the lockout threads and could have missed the guys using PCM having lockouts

I think it’s only a Spektrum brand problem. I have a Futaba FASST system and have never had a problem.

Everyone probably gets hit from time to time with a static discharge but most systems don’t have to go through the long reboot cycle like the Spektrum receivers. When I was flying PCM I could feel a little slow down in response sometimes – probably because the PCM receiver was rejecting the signal from the spark. Now that I have the FASST system I never notice any slow down.

I can't see why those two guys have anything to do with lockout, static, and other issues regarding some pilots encountered with their Rex500. The manufacturing materials for 450,500,600 are no different then any other brands manufactured on the earth. I have see lots of posts here as well as from other forums related to those issues. Here in the West coast, I am using basic Hitec 6 PPM receiver, never used PCM and no problems what so ever from the first eheli merged. Have never purchased 2.4GHZ transmitter/receiver from the beginning because I have so many PPM receivers. Don't know those issues are related to the spectrum frequencies or due to the geo locations of where pilots reside. Low humi, erc which caused the static to buildup etc. In my opinion, T-Rex500 has no machenical issues which may cause the Rex 500 to crash. Hope someone can really figure out what cause all these static and lockout, brownout issues. Very strange, global warming ??? Bottom line, I can feel the pain, I wasted thousands of dollars in the past with my Rex450 and Logo10s, I was flying along and all of sudden the heli crashed with no pilot inputs, then I found out the antana base solder came loose inside my JR8103 transmitter. Bought a new JR9303 transmitter two years ago and no strange issues thereafter. Again, only basic PPM module nothing fancy. By the way, no lub, no mod, no flip of balde holders, no ground wire, no nothing posted here or other forums. I am using all carbon frames, carbon boom with all alum upgrades for my heli fleet.

You guys have been seeing posts on static issues for some time now. It's well documented. It happens. It occurs on ther helis, not just the 500. I had static issue problems with my TRex 450 with superframe and fixed it.

If you're flying your 500 without trying any of the fixes for it (such as grounding the boom and tail and/or grounding the ESC or using silicone/graphite spray on the boom) then I think you're all gambling. I would recommend you take the time to do the mods and then get some piece of mind. If not and you crash, we'll only tell you to do the mods and get back in the air.

I know personally because I was one of those who had not been having any problems until the weather got very dry. I had a few lock-outs in the air but was able to get control at the last minute. However, like a dumbsh*&t, I continue to fly it. And then I finally got a crash. That was my fault. Now that I've actually rebuilt it and made the mods, I've had no problems whatsoever.

If you're building a new 500, do the mods right away and have some piece of mind!

Go to the freak web site. There is well documented fixes. Static is not just isolated to the 500. The eRaptor and other electric helis have this problem as well.

Have you done the ground mods that people figured out? If not then why are you complaining about lockouts? Then about JK and Sazbo? Many heli's have these same type of issues, not just the 500. The mods work, take the time to do them and enjoy your 500!

If nothing sucked how could anything be cool?
