My local church group is having an adult pinewood derby with the following rules

1- it has to fit on the track
2- it cannot be powered

so all other rules are out the window. you can go as heavy as you want and whatever wheels/axles or bearings you want

any suggestions on where i can get some good wheels and bearings or what i should do to win!!

Good axles.
Large diameter wheels.
Bearings in wheels.
Thin wheels at the track surface.

Think of a CD with bearings mounted.

Mount the axles from the top.

Keep the weight as low as possible in the center of the axles.

Streamlined body with no blunt areas.

Well i decided screw the not powered idea!

I ended up with the following

Stock kit with fiego 4200kv brushless running a 3x3 direct drive prop with a 12 amp speed control and a 2 cell 1000mah lipo!!

Ill go take some pics in a min, inital test runs im pretty sure that nothing will touch this car in the speed department!

On the ground it goes so fast that in 5 feet it wants to get out of hand! However on a track it should keep in a straight line and really scream!!

Took me 20 mins to build and i had everything handy! They might not let me race it but ill get some laughs anyway!

Lose the speed controller.

You dont need the weight of the esc and the receiver.
Just connect the battery directly to the motor, and get your hands out of the way.

I thought about going no speed control but since its a brushless motor and i already had the wires soldered on to the esc i figured what the heck, this way i can vary the speed, ya dont want to be winning by to far!!

If this is a scout project, the scout is supposed to build the car???
Although there's nothing wrong a little hands on guidance.

Put all the weight near the front end. Make sure only 3 wheels contact the surface...Less friction.
