Does anyone one know if a OS 61 SX Connecting rod will work in a 61 LX engine cos the LX one that I have has a tight spot in the bottom bush. but I do have a new SX one..

Mike..

The LX and SX have 2 different part numbers for the connecting rods

They use the same piston, but a different crankshaft.

And the SX was more powerfull, close to 15% more if I recall.

check the length of each and the bush diameters if they are the same then i see no reason for it not to work as the sx should be a stronger rod
but my guess is that the crank pin dia will be bigger on the sx
also make sure your crank pin is ok as it may be a little of both the pin and rod if its tight

both rods are the same length plus the SX rod fits the LX Crankshaft perfectly (I checked the crank pin dia by fitting it) so it should work eh?? and (also) the SX Rod has two oil holes (the LX Doesn't have oil holes at the crankpin bushing)

SO Payne1967 what do you think?? (give it a try)

yes, try it
i would think the change in part number is just the 2 oil holes and this will give better lubrication to the crank
