Guys i bought a 10-15 flights old Neu of a fellow Run ryder member in the USA, i shipped it to me Here in Austrlaia.

Now heres my problem

when i got it it smelt a little "funny" not burn but smelt....

Ok so i spool it up in my logo i lift off to about 20foot high and then the blades slow down......

At the time im thinking mmm the pinion must have sliped.
Well it isnt thats on tight

When i look into the motor there is a fan in the top of the case and then lower in appeares to be the electric motor itself now when i apply throttle (holding the blades of course) the inner motor spins, only at one speed and not fast either.
But the fan part doesnt turn at all nor does the main gear etc?
now when i grab the main gear by itself and turn it the fan does turn looking like everything is fine ?

anyone know what i can do to resolve this ????

I just hope i havent been sold a Turd ! which it appears i have as it ran for less than 5 seconds

Thanks Dale

ENV - Still laying it down !….Ohhh yeh !!!

The glue that holds the rotor to the shaft has let go. It's a problem with Neus on occasion.

It has to go back for repairs. You could try and reglue it yourself but I don't know what adhesive to reccomend. They used to use green loctite but you can see how well that holds

I'd try and get the guy who sold it to you to take it back since he problably knew it was a "Turd".

Quite common with Neu, unfortunally.

But there is a cure.

Take the motor apart, make sure you see where shims are, also note how far shaft extends outside core.

Remove the shaft from the core.
Clean the shaft and the core (where it connects to shaft) with alcohol.
Put in Green loctite (Retainer, stuff that comes with Align helis works) in the core and a little on the shaft.
Put the shaft back.
Wipe off any excess loctite.
Put in the owen at 70C for a couple of hours.

As a extra safety Ive put some CA on each end of the core.

Ive repaired all my motors that way and since then none of them have let go of the shaft again, some of them with several hundred flights.

The bottom is just pressed in, take a small flat screwdriver and put in the gap and knock on it with a hammer (aiming the screwdriver so it will push the bottom out)

Just small knocks, go around do other side, and so on.

Just remember the shims that will (perhaps, not always) fall out when you take the bottom out.

Yep, green loctite also called "shaft retainer"
I think Loctites own number is 680 for the one I use.

Ive used the stuff that came with Align kits (green bottle), worked as well..

Neu
She came apart easy enough

Both bearings are rough as !
the main shaft has a lot of burred alloy fron the "Can" ? spining on it, although this cleaned off easily the "Can" now rocks on the main shaft, i dont think thats goood at all

So much for a motor thats done 10-15 flights !
the inside looks like its been cleaned up from burnt stuff eg, the back of the fan has all black burn/left over smoke on the inside edges like it wasnt cleaned propery.

theres some "green" colored stuff attached to different places that looks like epoxy ? maybe thats what they use to balance each part before assembly ??

Either way the motors toast ! and what makes it worst is when i look on the Neu site i see the price i paid for this second hand one is ACTUALLY MORE than they are new !!!!!!

Ahhh we live and learn sometimes the hard way....

But i am very dissapointed i mut say
now i dont even have a machine to fly

You should post a negative report on the seller.

First contact him and give him the opportunity to make it right. If he doesn't please by all means make this deal known so that he won't be able to do this to another easily.

Neu
I have sent a PM to the guy, given its the weekend and he may be bussy i will wait until he gets back to me before i go baging anyone.

He may honestly have sold it and things have just gone "South" !

But i am really anoyed it did this within 5 seconds of running, if it was like 10 flights later i would say Oh well nothing i can do
but this is just really "strange" ?
