Hi guys I am new to the electric helis and just have a quick question with regards to the ESC and the throttle curve....Now should I have a throttle curve like a nitro heli and treat the ESC just like a carby.Or should I be trying to get the motor up to top speed and ESC at %100 as soon as safley posible....Any help would be much apreciated

Have a read through this little article - It should help get you acquainted with electric motors - It's kinda aimed towards planes but you can substitute prop size with gear ratio for helis

http://www.fastelectrics.com/elecmotorbasics.htm

I use throttle curves like these:
    Norm 0-60-80-80-80
    Idle1 90-90-90-90-90
    Idle2 100-100-100-100-100
I find flat throttle curves less torquey so easier on tail hold as long as the tail speed doesn't get bogged too low which shouldn't with the right setup

A lot of heli ESCs have Gov modes that people set to about 85% so there's throttle reserve to keep a constant RPM and a good tail setup should keep up

V-curves I'd recommend be kept shallow like 95-92-90-92-95 as deep Vs can be unnecessarily excessive and torquey

I've been flying governor mode on my heli for years... Just by curiosity last week i've tried 100% flat curve on my beam heli with a CC45 and Mega motor... Man, it's even better!

RPM is a bit higher though... so maybe it's just the increse in rpm that make it fly even better...

I'll will certaily try in on my bigger (10S) bird this summer can't wait!
