hi, i am new to helis, but have been flying fixed wing for about 13 years. i have a jr venture 30, and after buying and through experience have found out that they have problems. so far its had bout 15 flights(learnt to hover myself). fuel tank split, fixed easily, muffler cracked, again easily fixed but it has alot of play in the washout assembly and the blade grips, has anyone else encounterd this and if so what con be done to fix it.(please dont say sell it and buy a rapta like everyone else) thanks to anyone who can help.

Get some Ergo blade grips and a metal washout and you will be fine. The grips are a common problem, do a search on the Venture here on RR and you will find that many others have had this problem.

I had some tracking problems with my Venture 50. I solved it with a new set of blade grips, the ergo ones, and also an upgraded spindle shaft. There are lots of posts in the JR forum, type in 'Venture tracking' or 'Venture blade droop' These mainly focus on the play in the blade grips. i'm of the oppinion that a little play in the flybar-washout area doesnt effect the heli to much, but play in the blade grips does need to get sorted

I quite like my JR venture, i'm sure its one of the simplest 50's out there. Easy to set-up, very few parts, very stable, yet it can still do mild 3D. I realised last week how much crap comes out of the muffler! I was hovering upside down 1 foot off the deck, Oil all over the place!!!

fun heli, enjoy it

A Venture 30 was my first heli. I too experienced some of the problems you mention, blade grips and muffler mainly. I found some Ergo grips and replaced the muffler with an MP2 30Q muffler and that fixed the issues I was having. Not to mention that 2 piece muffler that comes with the kit just sucks. You'll see a good performance boost by changing that muffler.

I had a very similar 2yrs ago on my Venture 90,

I posted in the JR Forum,

here it is, this may help you, i know mine was 90 size, but i am sure you can the equivlent for a 30 size

Matt

I had complained to him that my machine Venture 90, was flying awful despite alot of tweaks i had done.it would roll inconsistent, and loop awfully, and the hovering i was fighting it.

Well i was at his field today doing a set up changing the blades, paddles etc, and he noticed that one of the blades grips was jamming.

We took the head apart and found that the original Head dampners (black) had gone very soft in a short period of time, (machine is 3 months old) and cos they had gone soft the head shims had dug into the the rubbers preventing the blade grip from rotating properly causing bad hovering and tracking and inconsistent aero's.

The solution is to remove the dmapners and fit a "ricks hellies O ring conversion for the Vibe head, this along with the Vibe shims will correct the problem and cured it.

if the venture is like the ergo i've helped out with at my club then it should be eccpm mix on the swash plate (3 servos moving together to control the swash plate), in the parameter set the type to SR-3 this is 120* eccpm
to start with leave the swash afr at the std setting
to get the swash moving correctly you will need to try a mix of changing the afr from a +ve value to a -ve value or use the servo reverse untill you get the correct movement in pitch, elevator and aileron, without the model i can not tell you which you will need to change to get the function correct

if it is mechanicaly mixed (1 servo for each operation of the swash) then it will be SWH1 and all you need to do is use the servo reverse to get the swash moving correctly
