Hello, my hbk2 came today and pulled out charged the battery did the blade tracking and all the adjustments and also the swashplate adjustments. My tail is holding fine but the belt came off and it got grinded down quite a bit. It still has the tread on the inside and i was wondering how to loosen the belt a little bit. Also i put a small piece of the soft side of velcro under the belt behind the pullys to keep it up. It kind of makes a grinding sound which isnt good so is that the brushes in the motor or is it something else. Please help i want to fly but i am too afraid to.
please help
Thanks

Sorry that your belt got eaten.

I do believe that there is a mod you can do to keep that sort of thing from happening.

Do a search for belt mods under this forum. Should be plenty of info.

The grinding sound is most likely the belt jumping teeth on the pulleys, just tighten it up just a touch.

Loosen the 4 small screws where the boom slides into the frame and pull it out just a touch. Don't make it too toght.
Push on the belt and see how much slack there is. I have mine set to move about 2 mm.

hmmm, sounds like the grinding sound could be a loose pinion on the motor shaft, does the pinoin have a set screw on it, either way some loctite on the pinion will help that problem, as for the belt tensioning, loosen the 4 screws in the frame where the boom attaches, move the boom accordingly to your needs, not too tight or loose, the belt has been prone to slipping off the guide bearings, proper tension should keep in place, 3 alternatives for this is placing a small nylon block underneath the belt aft of the guide bearings, use some CA to hold it in, or getting another set of bearings and adding it to the existing ones, and or upgrading to the 43t pulley system by xtreme, hope this helps you out

Air thunder 2200 25C packs are really nice they don't puff up and can be drained below the 80% rule without damage....

I run a pair of Mega Power 1350mAh packs and they work great. I got them at helidirect.com for $28 each. Also you need to get a brushless setup. The stock brushed motor is pretty much junk and will die after 10 or so flights.

The only thing I believe you have to worry about is not dropping below 3v per cell (9v for a 3s pack). When I hover my king, I can start to hear the motor slowing down and that is when I stop. The pack is usually in the upper 9v area.

also thank you for the help with the 80% rule. when i hear the engine slow down is when i change it anyway. also do you have to wait for the batteries to cool down before recharging, i am just to be safe but do i need to?
