Hi All,

I gotta tell you, that I think this upgrade is going to be one of the best. My flights with my OS 50 Hyper always start out rich, resulting in small loops. And then by the end of the flight, when I want to do some hovering slow pirouettes, my engine is just screaming.

I think CarbSmart is going to change that. I also just put on the RCE G600 governor to help keep the engine speed under control. I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to flying my 600N this year!

I'm not taking any chances on mixture adjustment, though. I've also picked up an EagleTree data logger so I can monitor the head temp. That should help me get it dialed in.

Sorry for the rant. I'm just really torqued...

Keep 'em flying.

I first tried mine out last week and so far it works very well. I also have the Eaglee Tree which helps setting it up. I got mine from Grand RC and right now they have 34 left.

Hi Woody,

I got mine at ReadyHeli. I asked them to email when they got it back into stock on Friday, and they emailed saying they had some on Saturday. I ordered right away and had it by Tuesday.

I hope you're able to get one. The RC Heli Review was very positive (9.5 out of 10). The reviewer said he intends to put one on every nitro machine that he flies. The only downside was that he broke a couple sensors. So be careful when installing it.

Keep 'em flying.

It's the same dial as what you use to set the gain after calibration. It's the small dial that you stick a small flat bladed screwdriver into.

sensor heatshrink
Just got mine yesteday. I have the bracket and hs-56 mounted. All I need is a linkage arm. I also got the Arctic thermal epoxy from GrandRC. With regards to the sensor, are you supposed to cutback the heatshrink somewhat? I thought I read somewhere here on RR that guys were or weren't doing that. I couldn't see anything in the C/S directions regarding that part.

Thanks...

'invisible bling' should make it sing! Grandrc has carbsmarts in stock. I didnt cut the sensor heat shrink but I did use the thermo-epoxy all the way to the wires. Now if I could order up some sun and no snow I would be happy!

Got mine installed today. You might notice that the stock carbsmart needle valve clamp is not on there. I had both balls and the link on and was adjusting the linkage length, used my ball link pliers to remove the link on the needle valve side and Snap! The stock clamp snapped in half at the center bolt hole. I epoxied it but wasn't sold on the idea of having it on there. I did some reading and came across (ThunderRobo's) install which had HS-56 horns on both sides. So after confirming with him that it works well, I did the same. I really like this idea better. With the stock clamp, to tune the engine and turn the needle valve prior to carbsmart use, I would've had to remove the clamp, adjust the needle valve and reinstall the clamp, then adjust for center.

With this setup, all I have to do is loosen the machine set-screw on the horn on the needle valve just slightly enough to rotate the needle valve, then tighten the screw back down so it moves the needle valve thru the carbsmart.

I set it up to full max rich/lean and center is where I had the carb on its last couple of flights (1 1/4 open). My gain is set to 50% and the temp is set to 100C.

Running a Hyper / Align pipe / CY 30%. Will post results hopefully tomorrow.

Got my 'Arctic' thermal epoxy from GrandRC for like 7 bucks, but I do believe Radio Shack sells some also.
