I'm currently flying a trex450 and was looking for a larger heli to fly and I was looking at the Hurricane 550 and Trex 500 primarily since I'd be able to use my stockpile of batteries on them as well.

I'm still a beginner so I'm not doing much but I do want something to grow with into 3d. So far I think that I'm leaning towards a T-rex 500, as I haven't heard that much about the Hurricane but I do like that the price of the hurricane is significantly lower .

I have not flown a hurricane but I have flown a 500 and i picked up beautifully, handled the winds, and handled like a champ threw all that threw at it.

pick it up and shake it off...she'll fly again

hey Tat2wallace , would you happen to know what the performance of the Hurricane is with 2 3sP ? That will most likely be the setup I use along with all the stock equipment for the most part.

yes, i used 2 3sp when i first got it... it was a 2070 and a 2170... i smoked it though... flight time was low.. i think if you use a 2500 or better it will be ok... i got a dewalt pack off ebay for 100 bucks or so.. got 2 of them, and have 4 4s A123 packs... for cheaper than the 2 lipos... 1 - 3s pack is around 100 bucks... you can get 2-4s A123 for same price, and have 2 cells left over...

ohhh yea btw is the hurricane to large for my Dx6 and ar6000 ? I thought I remember reading somewhere the the T-rex 500 was the largest size to safely use that receiver in ?

well after looking at the specs at the two heli's again i think i may have to go for a t-rex 500. Since the Hurricane 550 is around 11 inches longer and my transportation is only 2 small cars. ( toyata corolla and mustang gt) and it barely fits inside with only several inches to spare @_@ .
