for the slow people like trackhead in the room - my original post on this tired subject thanked everyone who filed 'legitimate but especially illegitimate' claims excessively for the cancellation of our coverage. nothing unfounded about that statement. call Hill & Usher for your own clarification on that statement.

I'm done discussing it with the likes of you. we aren't even in the same league.

peace.

Soundwave,

Trackhead is far from a troll. His videos are some of the best I have seen (thats not even taking into account the conditions he's flying in).

You need to "simmer down".

Soundwave,

remember when you called me last summer to discuss electric options? And I told you don't go with the MJ because of the cost and pucker factor? I advised against an MJ, those fancy servos, and expensive ESC you use now because crash replacement costs were too much and little was to be gained.

Why did I advise that? I'll same the same thing I did that day on the phone.... because you can do the same job with less expensive equipment that is equally as reliable and performs the same.... IMO you put image and bling as your priority and not economical form and/or function.

So now you're upset because in flight insurance coverage is nixed and you worry about having to replace your expensive gear.

Well... I hate to say I told you so, but....

I'm in the same boat as you. I am going to lose my coverage just like you are. I have 5 machines. Not just 2. Am I worried and up tight? Not really. Why? because a severe crash is going to be relatively inexpensive to repair. My biggest cost will be if I trash my DLSR and lens, but that's what a Ritz Warranty is for right?!

You think plastic and Asian helicopters are crap. Some are, but many aren't. Derek is not a troll. I'm confused how you even came to that conclusion. Have you not been on the forum here in recent months and seen his great works?

Dude... it's all good. Just chill and maybe consider a less expensive set of machinery that won't wind you up so tight when you worry about crashing it. I promise you can do the same jobs you are doing now with the same performance and quality for half the cost. it's true. And if you went that route you'd be thanking me and all the rest of us later who are saying the same thing.

It's ok to go from a GSR gasser to a Joker to something less expensive. I did and I'm loving it.

Soundwave,

Best of luck in your ventures. And please post some of your work when possible. I like to view others work for inspiration and insight.

Folks like Tabb, AZChopperCam, Gaucho, flyboy, Jeff Scholl, and many, many others have posted great video/photos that are incredibly inspiring.

Perhaps you could do the same time.

They really didn’t think there’d be that much crashing and or catastrophic results. I thought the deductibles were very generous as were the payouts.

I hope I don’t get this thread closed too…

Novel concept. To me this is the biggest risk of an electrical platform because the expensive battery gets damaged in a crash. So why do you guys use electrics for AP?

I am a little confused by this discussion. I thought the insurance was for liability not equipment loss. It would seem to me that equipment loss would be chicken feed compared to a liability suit.

This is entertaining.... reminds me of:

The guy whith no experience who goes and buys a $50,000 Harley and tips it over on his first ride.

The "rich guy" who thinks it would be neat to get into photography but now just has a Nikon D2X collecting dust on the shelf.

The guys you pass right by on Mtn. Bike trails with with their $8,000 bikes and designer spandex.

NOT that there's anything wrong with any of that - people are free to do what they want and buy nice stuff, to be sure! But...

It's as simple as a business decision, IMHO. Why pay more when it's not needed to get the job done? Sucessful businesses don't spend $ just for the sake of spending more $... they get what they need to get the job done. Trackhead's got it figured out, if you ask me, as do many others here.

Nice post, Tony.

During my time on your planet I have witnessed that you carbon based life forms have equal capacity for both generous compassion and spitefull jealousy. You truly are a curious species.
