So what you are saying is that because ANYTHING in the helicopter could fail, so what the heck, let's just go for 100% and hope for the best because it is easy not to screw up.

And on top of it, what the heck, let's not even use the device as it was meant to be used in the first place.

It's easy to find an excuse to do wrong. Hard is not to find an excuse to do right.

Earth to Jack:

I said any governor can fail,
you just switch back to normal mode to disengaged it.

The revmax works really well with a 100% throttle curve

Get over it

I know... what's the worse that can happen, right?
And you're worried about a $200 part? (the engine)
biggest concern is the main blades throwing a lead weight (I've seen it happen
And it is easy not to screw up:
If you ever do have a limiter failure, you just switch back to normal mode, it's that easy. Even if you are inverted, it's still no problem, you hit full aileron at zero pitch and get her upright.
And all this for what? Wanting to be cool by using a limiter instead of a governor and being lazy not to set up properly.

Ops, BTW: Thanks for the clarification.
One of my flying buddies had a GV1 that would not not disengage after the magnet was thrown and reved the engine very hard
I am sooooo happy I use TJs and not GV-1s or my brand new YS-50 would have been history on its first flight. But what the heck, I forgot! It is only a $200 part anyways!

I respect your counsel in other matters, but I would be very careful on this one. Aren't you concerned about where your words will end up at and what they might cause?

It's easy to find an excuse to do wrong. Hard is not to find an excuse to do right.

Honestly Jack - what planet are you on...

It is not a big deal to run a RevMax with a 100% flat throttle curve
It's common knowledge - heaps of people do it
And all this for what? Wanting to be cool by using a limiter instead of a governor and being lazy not to set up properly.
This is the way that people get the best performance
out of a revmax and the engine and the model
It's a bit more responsive

Like I said, I've been using it for three years and not had a problem

If you don't like the idea, that's fine,
stick with a conventional governor

But don't go around scare mongering others
over a configuration that you don't like
despite the fact that it does work
and heaps of people use it

Jackheli,
I use a GV1 and it is setup to disable in normal mode. If it fails (I happen to have throttle curves) I simply switch to normal and fly and or land. No worse than the fail safe mentioned for the TJ

i hate to interupt a good wordfloggen, but is there anyway to put aux2 so it will be automatic for the TJ, or do i want to leave it manual and only set one side up and leave the other at 0 atv to turn it off in normal flight mode?

Depends on your transmitter. If you can assign the idle switch to the Aux channel then you are set. If not you can try to assign a switched mix to the Aux channel.

Brcg,
I think its best to be able to disable incase of some issue but I have no experience with the Throttle Jockey. You might be able to disable it (or it might be already disabled for Throttle hold)

Unfortunately I can't help with JR. Can you assign which key to switch the Aux2 function?

Then you might have to create a switch activated mix that will respond to the idle up switch and will act on the Aux2 channel.

No, no, no!

What TYPE of mixes can you create on your transmitter? Are there any that respond to a switch? Like if the switch is on one side it applies a certain rate mix to the target channel, and when it is on the other it applies another rate?

Sorry I am not acquainted with JR radios.

Please ask on the radio forum how to command the Aux channel from the idle switch on a JR radio. They will sure help.

i found out what to do for mixing the governor to flight mode, it takes 3 mixes, 1 mix to make normal mode inhibited, 1 mix to make ST1 1950rpm, and 1 mix to make ST2 2000rpm. set this way, with switch down, all flight modes are inhibited. with the switch up:
N = Inh.
ST1 = 1950rpm
ST2 = 2000rpm

Simple, huh?
