Hey Everyone,

Through many adjustments to the stock tail rotor control rod, I have broken the rear plastic ball link and have just about ruined the front one due to my turning them too much with allen wrenches. All of this was done because of the need to make adjustments after installing the carbon TR servo mount. I will use a ball link turner from now on, but I have a few questions of Hawk experts out there:

1. Can I use the Hawk Pro Tail Rotor control rod with my Hawk Pro? I have the after marker servo mount. I can't see why it would not, unless the tailboom is longer on the Hawk Pro, and therefore the rod too long for the Hawk Sport.

2. It seems unreasonable that the ball links (gray) on the Hawk Sport seem to be only sold with the TR control rod set, and not separately.

Hawk Sport: HW3064C
Hawk Pro: HW3064G

Both are at Heliworld.

3. I don't think that the gray ball links (different size openings from the black ones used for the cyclic controls). HI3145 has both short and long ball links, but I think its all for the cyclic controls, and I have plenty extra ones (comes from a crashed Hawk Sport from years ago).

Thanks to all that can help!

The tail control rods are 2.o mm rods so you should uste the greay ones on it. The swashplate related rods are 2.3mm units so the black ones are the ones to use on these.

As for what part number for what you want to do, check with Heli-World, they should know

Bellcrank,

Yes, I realized right away that my extra 2.3mm black ball links were too big for the TR control rods. But are the gray ones sold separately? If not, I'll juts buy the entire HW3064C for the Hawk Sport, or the HW3064G for the Hawk Pro if someone tells me that it will fit.

If you have the rudder servo mounted at the tailboom there's not problem using the HW3064G from the Hawk Pro.

The difference between the HW3064C and HW3064G is that the HW3064C also comes with the short 2mm rod used with the rudder servo mounted up front.

I'm using the M2x25 grey links from HW6065B on my helikopters because they are stronger (not as brittle) than the ones that comes stock with the Hawk kits and HW3064C and HW3064G. They are apparently made from a different type of plastic.

I've had at couple of the stock 2mm links break, but never have had that happen to the M2x25 Grey links from HW6065B.

the grey 2mm links are available separately. They come 10 to a package and the number to order is CNLR1000S.

Thanks, ordered both items!
Thank you all, I placed an order with Century Heli in San Jose. In fact, they want to say hello to Phil in Canada for the recommedation. I actually found one last gray 2.2 mm link and made it work, but ten more in the mail is that much better, plus I can change out old ones as necessary. The Hawk Pro wire will also come in handy since it has the "bend" near the tail rotor servo. Got some interesting geometry going on now. While it works as is, you have to figure that it puts pressure on the ball link and makes it want to snap off the ball.

On a side note, in putting the servo at the tail, I did reverse the servo, but forgot to reverse the gyro. After looking at my Hawk flail about on the sand a few times, I finally reasoned it out and flipped the switch. Sometimes, it's the simplist of things.
