I have a blade 400 and a Trex 450 and of course the Trex is more stable but I have way better electronics on it Marty on your 400 move the tail servo linkage rod in to the 2nd hole from the servo on the servo horn adjust the gain to 72 to 75% and try that that is all I did to my 400 and no wag and holds way better than out the box you will think that you spent money on it when you see the results But I see what your saying on the 500 size helis I do think the bigger the airframe the more stable but just do those mods that I said and just fly it like that for awhile Good luck

Honestly, those of you who do not have a 500 should not make assumptions. The 500 is nearly as stable as the 600. The crash costs are less for 2 factors: Blades and battery prices. The 500 hits the sweet spot in terms of performance battery/crash costs. The 450 is cheaper to fix due to the cheap blade prices. However, I'll bet if you get a 500, you'll crash less because it's more stable in flight. Right now, there is a limited amount of blade choices but you can always go to HeliDirect or GrandRC if you're a noobie some fiberglass blades will hold up against some bumps and scrapes but are cheap enough.

To the topic at hand, you will get much better performance just by getting a good head holding gyro. That will save you a lot of aggravation worrying about a tail that's difficult to control. Then you can get better cyclic servos. If you're just hovering, this will make the most improvement in your flying experience, IMHO.
