Well after flying my cx-2 for a few weeks i bought a B400.

Im pretty good with it. Im scared to do Forward flight still because of the "unstable-like" flight of it. It could be me, but i think its half me half heli.

I crashed it once due to loss of site, and my LHS repaired it where i would be way in over my head.

The next crash i Repaired it and im feeling more comfortable doing more mechanical issues.

I want to move into a bigger better heli.

I dont think i really want to deal with nitro with a motor and everything. Plus having to buy all the parts and accessories i would need.

So what do you guys suggest? Im definitely keeping my B400 to continue practicing. Because the crashes are soo cheap!

Why not go with a 500? Depending on what batteries you're using for the B400 (~2100mAh or higher) you can wire them together into a 6s pack for the 500.

Get a Trex 500. It flys alot more stable and you can double up your existing B400 batteries to fly it.

It was a "Brown Out" not me.

Yes and No. They have the potential for static problems but not everyone has them, I being one that hasnt, but weve found pretty easy and cheap fixes for the problems anyway. Lube your tail belt with silicone spray or something similar and do one of the many different grounding mods that have been posted in numerous threads.

It was a "Brown Out" not me.

The 600 flies so well and is a nature design that I would not consider the 500 with all the growing pains and crashes they are having.

the B400 is quite an unstable heli compared to the trex450

my opinion is either stick to it and learn while the crashes are cheap, maybe convert to a trex450 SE, the older V1's are cheap to get secondhand and fly just the same

a larger heli like the 500/600E are much more stable, but crash costs can easily get to $200

my 450 crashes are generally about $45 and i am unmerciful with it, trying ALL moves on him before i try them in the nitro

i keep crash costs to the minimum...like my income

!boo!

Why do you want to move up to something bigger when you are having difficulty with the Blade.

Bigger is better of course but the crash costs are proportional as well.

Perhaps some serious Sim time is in order..??

I agree with gyronut stick with the smaller/cheaper heli until your over the crash stages. Try to keep the learning curve expenses with the smaller helis. The 450 v1 is a good step up if you must go bigger and the parts prices are reasonable too...

I just hate on the 400 how i move the tail to where i want it to be, and then it jerks a few degrees one way or the other and then holds that position.

I hope all helis arent like this. Because if i can tell the heli where i want the tail to stay plz stay there.

I know it will drift and move. But as long as it slides out of place and doesnt JERK there like i just made the input...

When the 9800 cards come up im gonna get the dual 8800 gtx for the price drop, then build a computer and get a sim? Ill probably get reflex as its the most realistic so ive heard.

what servo and gyro do you have on your blade 400?

with a 401 and 9257 it should fly much better. consider getting those because you can use them on a 500 if you get one.

600N 55HZ/SAB-55 600V's
700N 91HZ/SB-20 690V2 V's
90SG 91HZ/SB-20 710V2 V's

They need to learn how to fly...

Marty,
Let me know if you want to meet up this weekend, preferably Sunday, and you can see a 500 in action for yourself...

phoenix has all trex models and they are setup by experts - better investment than a new heli

I think the problem with the B400 is the gyro. The servos on the B400 aren't the best. If you changed the servos to HS65MGs (when you crash) and change the gyro to a better one like the 401 and faster tail servo, you won't have any tail holding issues. The stock gyro isn't that great, definitely not in the same class as the 401.

First, I have flown the B400, It is not a stable machine. (out of the box).

Second:
