If you go with a NEU motor you HAVE to do the heatsink mod...not really necessary for the Actros and Tangos but still a good idea...
I would highly recommend it if your going to fly it hard with the Actro I was able to shut mine down consistently on a 24-4/19T with the canopy on. Flightpower 5350,3700,3300's.

I have gone to opening up the sides of the heat shrink on the Jazz to help with airflow, the 55 is being pushed to it's limits now with all of the high power setups people are using and the level of flying having increased across the board.

If you are only flying moderate 3d/aerobatics I would still mod the Jazz with a heat sink.

I told you it was the future........

Noob with LOGO 6003D
G'day boys,

I can now officially join this thread as my 600 Vbar kit is in the post. Thanks for the nice complement. I can move the sticks ok, but the vbar set up sounds like it will be a real challenge! I have ordered the Plettenberg 30-12 heli expert motor and need to decide on the ESC. I'll be running the FP 4350's I would say. Really looking forward to this project & hopefully it will be flying for Coffs. :-)

Jeff.

Go with the Jazz 55-10-32. It will cost a little more but you will not be disappointed....Ron

Like Hung, I'm not too keen to cut up a new Jazz 55-10-32. Do you think this ESC will work fine in stock form with the Orbit 30-12 Expert motor I've ordered? I noticed that in the vids, Tom & Max use the Power Jazz with this motor. Unbelievable power!

Also the power jazz is a very expensive ESC. The CC 110HV was the other ESC I was considering.

Hi Jeff and Hung.

lf you intend using the governor mode on your esc then l`d highly recomend sticking with the Jazz. The governor mode on the CC and most other esc`s is next to usless. You probably wouldn`t need the extra heatsink but its 10 seconds work and about the easiest job you`ll get when building a heli. Maybe some one could post some pics, l would but l`ve taken the heatshrink right off mine and dont want to scare anyone.

Flybars. Who needs `em.

i will be running just the standard Orbit on 16t

not really after a logo 600 with huge power

so i reckon the stock jazz will be fine

the Orbit heli expert is a much more powerful motor
so a stock Jazz may thermally stut down after a few mins ( go to half power )

good thing about the KV rating on the orbit is that u have a wide choice of gears

I have a few jazz speedies in my other helis and i do like
there simplicity and light weight

also they have a super smooth soft start

Yes l forgot about that. Amazing what you take for granted after a while of using these Jazz controllers.

Re esc's :

Yes the Jazz has an amazing soft start and govenor but i have real concerns about the Jazz 55-10-32 in a logo 600. Taken at face value it is good to 2200watts (40v * 55amps). I know many use the 55 with success but still, its official rating is too low for me to be satisfied with the numbers many are now pulling out of it (3000+ watts).

Its not like i know if many alternatives but still i have concerns about how hard some of you guys fly and the low rating on the esc.

In my case where i can only putt around its more than enough but in cases where the pilot can push hard (Jeff, Hung, Kev, Russ, Dale etc) i have concerns.

Some times i wonder if you are not better off getting an suitable motor (kv wise) and running a simpler esc with a higher amp rate, then run a 100% throttle curve.

You are right on the money there Ozeace

thats why I choose the " SAFER " route

and choose a motor / gearing which will not push my speedie too hard

my motor choice was the most difficult as I knew what Speedie/batteries I wanted to run

but i wanted the most powerful setup i could run without any mods to my speedie

but I guess only time will tell how it holds up

OK I've ordered the power jazz 63V ESC to match up with the Orbit 30-12 Expert motor. Hopefully I have made the right choice. My kit arrived in the post today. Hoping to make a start on it tonight!
I'll be using the FP 4350 packs with this combo.
