The used 450seV2 came with a problem that I just uncovered; the plastic nuts for mounting the servos have been glued to the inside of the frames with what appears to be CA. They also overlap the openings for the servos so that I'd have to file them down anyway.

I suppose I could get my Dremel and grind them off completely, but I'm just wondering if solvent can be safely used.

What a pain!

Acetone desolves CyA just swell. I don't think debonder is as hard on materials as acetone can be. Align carbon fiber is not quite like the 'real' thing. I wouldn't soak the frame with either, but a small dose for a short time would be fine. The raw edges of the frame are at greatest risk. I have messed around with acetone on Align CF, and watched it soften the material faster then I would have guessed, but I was testing on purpose.

My bet would be that with a thin sharp blade you could very easily pop those nuts off.

Try fingernail polish remover. It works great on CA. However, I'd try it on some scrap fiber first if you have it. I thinks it does have some acetone it though.

Fingernail polish remover is usually scented acetone. There are some types of polish remover that is NOT acetone based, but probably wouldn't do the job.

More often than not, CA debonder is nothing more than nitromethane. Nitromethane is a great solvent for cured CA.

Neither would probably damage the CF as the resin is fully cured. If in doubt, test it on an inconspicuous spot.

Thanks everyone. I have CA solvent in the house so I'll give that a shot and let you know how it goes.
